Turkey: See & Experience Almost it ALL in 10 Days, 1st Class Custom Tours
A 4-installment payment plan is available, often with 0 percent interest to those with at least decent credit. Ask us for details. Our luxury-oriented and itinerary-packed “Turkey in 10 Days” tour is available for $2,467 USD per person. This price includes all transportation, except flights. It also includes English-speaking tour guides, food, all activities and all entry fees. If you would like lodging included for all nights on this tour, then the combined (transportation, tour guides, food, activities, entry fees and lodging) total would be $3,187 USD per person. This price is based on 2 per room and is offered to those booking at least 6 weeks in advance. Note that whereas there is no fee associated with paying by check, there is a 3.5 percent surcharge for payments made by credit card. We accept both forms of payment. Moving forward, to better understand your specific circumstances and wishes, and for us to accurately quote you, please tell us:
1. How many persons in your party-including yourself-would be joining this tour? Solo travelers are welcomed, in case you were wondering.
2. What is your age and the age of your travel companion(s), if applicable? Travel insurance is required for this tour and we cannot quote you without knowing your age.
3. Do you prefer this tour to be private/exclusive to you or would you like to share it with other travelers?
4. Would you be sharing the room with others in your group (e.g. a spouse, relative or friend) or do you want the room exclusive to you?
5. Where would you be flying from (and back to)?
6. On what date would you like to leave home?
7. Would you like to extend the duration of this tour so you have some free days just to relax? If visiting sometime between April and October and if you have 1 extra day, then we recommend Fethiye. If you have 2, then we recommend 1 in Fethiye and 1 in Bodrum. If visiting sometime between November and March and if you have 1 extra day, then we recommend Istanbul. If you have 2, then we recommend 1 in Istanbul and 1 in Goreme.
8. Do you have a preference between male and female tour guides?
9. Also, would you-and the others in your party if applicable-like to paraglide over Oludeniz Lagoon? Note that this specific activity is optional and is not included in the standard price. We can add it on Day 9. Note this activity is available only April through October.
10. Not least, it takes a good 8 full days to see all the worthwhile attractions in Istanbul, but of course, few people have that sort of time. If you would like to extend this 10-day tour specifically so our tour guides could take you to some of Istanbul’s famous attractions, then for how many days would you like to have a private tour guide?
11. On a final note, if you are traveling solo or with just 1 more person, you will be sharing transportation with other travelers. If you are traveling with 2 other persons or more, then all ground transportation will be exclusive to you and your party. If you are specifically a party of 2, are you interested in upgrading from shared transportation to all private for all days on this tour?

Itinerary
Day 1: Wine Tasting After Arriving at the Country's Second Most Popular Destination
Our tour starts in Goreme, best reached via the airport in Kayseri or Nevşehir. This village is used as a base from which to explore Cappadocia’s cave dwellings. In the evening, we are taken to a wine house. There we do wine tasting for about 45 minutes.
Note that you are most likely to go through Istanbul before reaching Goreme. If you are not famililar with this city, then we strongly recommend you spend some time there after completing our 10-day tour. Istanbul is arguably one of the world's greatest cities. If you are interested in a guided tour, please ask us for details.
Day 2: Hot-Air Balloon Ride, Cave Dwellings & Experiencing a Turkish Bath
We go on an excursion today. The day starts with an early-morning, hot-air balloon ride over the cave dwellings of Cappadocia. The tour takes about an hour. Following this is a tour of the area: the surreal-looking rock formations of Pasabagi (a.k.a. Monks’ Valley), Devrent (a.k.a. Camel Rock), a pottery workshop in the small town of Avanos, the Goreme Open Air Museum, Love Valley and Uchisar Castle. Lunch is included on today’s tour. The day ends with a traditional Turkish bathhouse (a.k.a. hammam). There we are bathed and massaged and sip on tea.
Day 3: A Folkloric Night Show, a Rock-Cut Monastery & an Underground City
We go on another excursion today. The destinations for today are a viewpoint called Esentepe, the underground city of Derinkuyu, Selime Monastery, a viewpoint overlooking Ihlara Valley, a hike inside Ihlara Valley, Pigeon Valley and a gemstone (a.k.a. onyx) workshop. Lunch is included on today’s tour. In the evening, we go to a night show. There we listen to traditional music while watching locals wearing folkloric attire do a great deal of choreography.
Day 4: Having a Traditional Dinner Inside a Native’s Home & the Castle & Beaches of Kusadası
We relocate from Goreme to Kuşadası via a flight through Izmir. We are provided with a guided tour in Kuşadası, covering sites like the city walls and castle. We also have time to go swimming. In the evening, we are taken to a native Turk’s home. There we watch how traditional food is prepared as well as have dinner. The combination of tasty cuisine, rich culture and good company creates an unforgettable experience.
Day 5: An Ancient City, Bathing in Hot Springs & Travertine Limestone
Still based in Kusadası, it’s almost time to visit the world-renowned archaeological site that is Ephesus. First, however, we head to a Catholic shrine named the House of Virgin Mary. It is believed that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken to this stone house by Saint John and lived there for the remainder of her earthly life. Moving onto Ephesus, it is one of the largest Roman archaeological sites in the eastern Mediterranean. The visible ruins still give some idea of the city’s original splendor and the names associated with the ruins are evocative of its former life. Following our tour there is lunch, which is included on today's tour.
Next is a Greek temple dedicated to an ancient and local form of the goddess Artemis. This temple was completely rebuilt twice, once after a devastating flood and three hundred years later after an act of arson. In Artemis Temple’s final form, it was considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Next is a visit to the ruined Basilica of Saint John. It stands over the believed burial site of John the Apostle. Lastly is Isa Bey Mosque. It is one of the oldest and most impressive works of architectural art in the region.
Day 6: Bathing in Natural Pools & the Travertine Limestone Formations of Pamukkale
We make another daytrip today. We are taken to the village of Pamukkale. There we first have a guided tour of the ancient Greek city of Hierapolis. Next is lunch, which is included on today’s tour. Next is a visit to nearby Pamukkale, a natural site which shares the same name as the village. Pamukkale consists of hot springs and travertine limestone. It is one of the country’s most photographed locations. Lastly is swimming in nearby natural pools called Cleopatra Pools. People have bathed in these pools for thousands of years.
Day 7: The Maze-Like Streets of Turkey's Best Known Beach Town
After relocating from Kusadasi to Bodrum, we have a guided tour around the harbor and through the maze-like streets. The traditional houses are characterized by their prismatic shapes, simplistic designs and locally sourced building materials like stone, wood, clay and cane. The highlights for today are the castle and going swimming.
Day 8: Postcard-Perfect Oludeniz Lagoon, a River Cruise, a Therapeutic Mud Bath & Tombs Carved into the Mountainside
Although we are relocating from Bodrum to the resort town of Fethiye, an important stop is made en route, specifically to the village of Dalyan. There we take a river cruise, passing by the mountain-carved Lycian tombs and heading to a therapeutic mud pool. After bathing in the mud clay, we visit the Tomb of Amyntas, near Fethiye. Like the Lycian tombs in Dalyan, Amyntas is carved into the mountainside. After checking it out, we are taken to a viewpoint overlooking the postcard-perfect Oludeniz Lagoon. We are then taken to the lagoon itself. Oludeniz has a sandy bay, on a blue lagoon. The seawater is famous for its shades of turquoise and aquamarine. We go swimming and then head back to Fethiye, where we are based for the remainder of our tour in Turkey.
Day 9: An All-Day Boat Cruise Around the Turkish Riviera
We go on a daytrip today. We are taken back to Oludeniz Lagoon. There we take an all-day boat tour. The destinations are the Blue Cave, a butterfly valley, Saint Nicholas Island, a cold-water spring, Camel Beach (home to a rock which resembles a camel) and an aquarium. Lunch is included on today’s tour, around 1:00pm.
Not included in the tour but highly popular nonetheless is paragliding over Oludeniz Lagoon. It is done from Mount Babadag, which is a 1-hour drive away from the lagoon. If you are interested in paragliding, please let us know. It would be done in the morning before taking the boat tour. You would be picked up from your hotel a bit earlier today, at 8:00am instead.
Day 10: Our Tour Ends This Morning
Transportation will be arranged for you to reach the airport in Dalaman.

We had a great tour. Our guides were all very knowledgable, kind, good people. We felt like we were hanging out with friends the whole time. Every step of the tour was engaging and all that was advertised. Our guides were all flexible if we wanted to change things up to suit our needs while we were there. We were very happy with everything.

At Izmir we met Sait. What a phenomenal memory that man has. I think if we said page 83 he could tell us exactly what was there. We had a great time with him…I think if I were to live anywhere in Eastern Europe, it would be Cappadocia. The fairy chimneys were phenomenal. Our guides told us of playing hide and seek in them when they were growing up. I can see myself doing the same. Staying in a cave was a new experience. We woke up our second morning to 11 inches of new snow…Tugba was our guide the first day…She was great and turned out to be our savior. Her husband Aras finished as our guide. As Tugba was the same size as us she loaned us long underwear, jackets and shirts to survive the balloon ride and tours. We saw everything on the agenda…The balloon ride was spectacular with the snow highlighting the fairy chimneys. It turned out Aras and I have a love of carpets. He took us to his home and gave us a private showing of his collection. Any spare time was spent discussing techniques, history and design of carpets.
Istanbul was unexpected. I somehow had in my mind a picture of Arabian Nights. It is a large thriving Metropolitan City. I adore our guide Ayse and we are staying in communication and hopefully meeting in Italy in April…We saw everything possible in Istanbul with a good history to go with it. We saw everything on your schedule…Our guides took us to little hole-in-the-wall restaurants with marvelous food. We ate way too much, but we had to try everything. I will definitely be recommending Charlie The Traveler to anyone that wants to see the world.

This tour was amazing. It was better that I expected, truly VIP all the way through, from the moment you arrive in the airport.. the hotels were well picked and situated in the middle of everything. The itinerary was a blast, packed with activities but you also get free time at the end of the day for rest. To our driver and tour guide, Ufuk and Ersan, thank you so much for being the best in your industry, we felt safe and had tons of fun. The hot air balloon ride and paragliding were activities that cannot be missed. This tour was well balanced, a mixture of history, fun and sightseeing in the most comfortable way possible. This tour basically covered activities by land, air and sea! Look no further, well worth the money. Thank you Charlie for the amazing itinerary, looking forward to traveling with your agency again. 5 stars!!!

Charlie’s tour was impeccably planned and comprehensive! He thinks about the details of saving time in airports, during transfers, and in the selection of local guides. He is also a master in how to achieve the best balance “the sweet spot” between staying busy with adventure, learning about the history and culture with having some downtime to chill out and enjoy local beautiful spots such as the beach or mountains. Hands down, it’s the best trip I’ve ever taken with a company or group and not on my own. Charlie and his local guides provided exemplary customer service. It was clear they wanted out trip to be the best fit for us and our needs. Even during COVID, Charlie’s tour arranged the testing for our return which was helpful in saving time and logistical planning while on vacation. A heartfelt thank you to Charlie and his well trained local guides in Turkey! A beautiful and historical country that should be on everyone’s bucket list!

Typically, the hot-air balloon ride, the daytrips from Goreme exploring the surreal nature of Cappadocia, the visit to the House of Virgin Mary, the ruins at a site called Ephesus, the Temple of Artemis, the ancient Greek city of Hierapolis and the hot springs and travertine limestone at a site called Pamukkale, swimming at the Cleopatra Pools, and the boat tour around Oludeniz Lagoon are shared with other tourists. The rest of the tour is exclusive to you and whomever else you may book on behalf of.
*Note that you are not with the same travelers and tour guides throughout your trip. Instead, you usually meet and engage with new people.
Am I Sharing the Room with Someone?
Your room is exclusive to you and whomever is in your party. Strangers (meaning customers who book on the same start date but do not know each other) do not share rooms on this tour. On a side note, please let us know if you and the other person(s) in your booking want separate rooms.
What is the Age Range & Nationality of the People Who Book This Tour?
Although we get customers of all ages and from several countries, our statistics show most people who book are 30 to 65 years old and from USA, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Are Kids Allowed on This Tour & Are They Charged the Same as Adults?
We welcome your kids specifically and only when the tour is exclusive to you and your group-meaning other customers are not joining you. We define kids as anyone under 18 years old. In order to make the tour exclusive to you and your group, your booking would need to be for 4 persons or more for any of our tours except Iceland. For our Iceland tour, your booking would need to be for 8 persons or more. Regarding the cost of bringing a non-adult, we do deduct from the total based on the amount of activities you request we remove from the tour. Note that reducing the total price of the tour by removing activities is something offered for non-adults only. Adults can opt out of activities but the total price does not change.
How Strong Do I Need to Be For This Trip?
We do not expect you to be an Olympic champion. We know some of the tour members are more fit than others…and we are well prepared for this. However, we do hope you take into consideration this is a very active tour, just like every other tour we offer.
Are Disabled People Allowed on This Tour?
Please let us know about any disability you have. Some disabilities would not affect you taking this tour. Others would prevent you from joining altogether. Although we want all of our customers to have fun, your safety is our first priority.
Do I Get Any Free Time to Myself?
Of course. Once each day’s tour is over, you have the rest of the evening to yourself. Because our tours tend to be very active, our customers typically want to simply relax once the sun sets.
What Happens If I Arrive Late?
Notify us as soon as possible and we will do our very best to arrange a meeting point. Please note that we do not refund for any days or activities that you miss.
Can I Opt-Out of Certain Activities?
Generally speaking, you can opt out as long as we are given adequate notice. Please note that opting out of certain activities does not reduce the price of this tour.
What Happens If I Get Injured on This Trip & Cannot Continue?
We would do our best to keep you safe and make you as comfortable as possible, as well as make special arrangements to address your situation. Partial refunds are not offered if you cannot continue with the tour. However, most travel insurances reimburse you for such situations. This is one of many reasons why we require our customers to purchase travel insurance before taking this tour.
What Happens If I Cancel This Trip?
To confirm your tour, full payment is needed at the time of your purchase. However, refunds are offered. You will receive a full refund if canceling at least 91 days in advance from the departure date. Cancelling between 90-60 days prior to departure entitles you to a 50 percent refund. Cancelling between 59-31 days prior to departure entitles you to a 25 percent refund. Canceling 30 days or less prior to departure is not eligible for a refund. Cancellation requests need to be made by email and become effective on the date received by CharlieTheTraveler.
What Happens If You, CharlieTheTraveler, Cancel This Trip?
In the unlikely event CharlieTheTraveler needs to cancel this trip, such as because of very poor weather conditions, we will give you a full refund for the tour within 14 business days of the cancellation. Note: We are not a participant in the California Travel Consumer Restitution Fund, nor is this transaction covered by the Restitution Fund.
How Do You Help Prepare Us For This Trip?

Is There Anything Out of the Ordinary I Should Bring on This Trip?
Bring a strap for your sunglasses, to wrap around your head while on the hot-air balloon. Also, bring a mobile hand/wrist strap, to prevent it from falling while in the air. Also, if visiting between April and October, bring (A) a lockable waterproof backpack (to bring onto the boat), (B) a waterproof case for your identification card and credit cards (when swimming) and (C) water shoes. On a different note, you may need to bring adapters for your electronic devices.

Also please note that California law requires sellers of travel to have a trust account or bond. CharlieTheTraveler has a trust account.
Are the Tour Guides Licensed & Will They Be With Me the Entire Time?
Our tour guides/drivers are licensed, speak English and know how to bring excitement to your day. What we deliver is the complete opposite of the cookie-cutting tours the big corporations offer, leaving you in complete boredom. Although our tour guides/drivers are attentive, accommodating and engaged, they also know when to give you your private space and free time. It's a perfect balance.
In Which Language(s) is This Tour Offered?
All of our tours are offered in English. If you prefer another language, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Can We Customize This Tour?
Although we are open to customizing this tour to fit your liking, as a general rule, we discourage the practice. We do our best to keep the cost of the tour low. The more we customize it, the quicker the price goes up. As our tour is currently advertised, you absolutely will not find another one out there as packed with activities and attractions. What’s more, you will not find another tour out there that offers it all "FIRST CLASS," yet for a relatively low price. We have thousands of travelers taking this specific tour every year, and that's because no competitor can beat us on quality, price & substance.
Do We Need to Get Our Own Transportation to and From the Airport?
Absolutely not. We make the arrangements for you.
Is Someone Available for Us 24-7 While on This Tour?
Yes! You have your own concierge for this tour who is at your disposal. You could reach this person when you need anything.
