Our Tour Package Itinerary
Day 1: Romantic Restaurants Lit Up Along the Shores & Under the Stars

Our tour of Greece starts in the town of Chania, on the island of Crete. Perhaps most atmospheric at night when the many bars and romantic restaurants light up along the shores and under the stars, Chania is home of a charming port that serves some of the tastiest food in all of Greece. Surrounding this historic town are streets containing boutique hotels, as well as shops that commonly illustrate Crete’s fascination with artisanship.
Venetian in style yet complimented by Ottoman features, Chania is not only Crete’s most architecturally attractive destination but it is also the ideal location in Crete to use as a base from which to explore the western parts of the island. Today we visit the Kioutsouk Mosque, the old port fountain and classic-looking shopping streets such as Skridloff street.
Day 2: Clear Waters, White Sands & a Huge Rock Formation
As a daytrip from Chania, we head to two of the island’s most beautiful beaches. Firstly, we drive to Elafonisi. When the weather is fine, it is possible to walk from the mainland to this island through shallow water. Next, we are taken to a village called Kalyviani. There we can purchase lunch. After our meal, we make our way to a beach known for its rock formation, clear water and white sands, Balos. After swimming there, we return to Chania and explore this charming town further.
Day 3: Venice Influencing the Appearance of Cretan Town
Before relocating by land from Chania to the port town of Heraklion, we further explore the sites in Chania: Firka Fortress, the Maritime Museum, the Neoria Shipyards and the lighthouse. En route to Heraklion, we visit Rethymno. This charming port town still maintains its old aristocratic appearance, with its buildings dating from the 16th century, arched doorways, stone staircases, Byzantine and Hellenic-Roman remains, a small Venetian harbor and narrow streets. Also before reaching out hotel in Heraklion, we visit an archaeological site called Knossos. Knossos is considered by many to be the oldest city in Europe.
Day 4: Every Photographer’s Fantasy Destination & Trying Local Vineyards’ Best Stuff
We relocate by flight from Heraklion to the island of Santorini. Today we explore around the island. Cycladic in style yet complimented by some neoclassical elements, Santorini is every photographer’s fantasy. With its villages perched several hundreds of feet above water, adding to this volcanic island’s allure is a stunning and world renowned-sunset, best viewed from Oia. Now throw into the mix locally produced and internationally acclaimed wines, archeological remains and beaches with sand or pebbles made of solidified lava of various colors (e.g. Red Beach). Suddenly you have what is one of the most romanticized-and unsurprisingly visited- islands in all the Mediterranean.
Firstly, we are taken to a church called Profitis Ilias. Next, we are taken to a winery located in the village of Megalochori. There we sample 4 wines. Wine sampling is included on today’s tour. Next, we are taken to an archaeological site called Akrotiri. Next, we are taken to Red Beach. Next, we are taken to Perivolos (a.k.a. Black Beach). Lastly, we are taken to the charming village of Oia. There we can purchase dinner as well as watch the sunset. After our meal, we check out Oia’s nightlife found in the maze-like alleyways.
Day 5: A Caldera Forming a Dramatic Landscape & Captivating Buildings Seemingly Piling Onto One Another
Today we explore Santorini’s historic towns of Thira and Oia. Whitewashed and pastel-colored cubic buildings and blue-domed churches seemingly pile onto one another, clinging onto the cliff-side caves of a caldera to form a dramatic landscape and striking views in what is one of the most unique destinations on earth. One can wander through a labyrinth of narrow and stone-paved alleyways filled with seasonally vibrant taverns and cafes as well as boutique shops and hotels.
In the morning, we are dropped off near to our hotel, specifically at the Prehistoric Museum of Thira. We walk from there until we reach a church called the Three Bells of Fira. The walk takes around 25 minutes. An architectural masterpiece integrated into Mother Nature created a dramatic landscape with breathtaking views, all seen from this walk. Next, we are taken to the village of Imerovigli. There we take a 15-minute walk to the big rock of Skaros, where nice views await. We are then taken back to Oia so we can purchase lunch. After our meal, we are shown around Oia on foot. Lastly, we are taken to a small church called Agios Nikolaos.
Day 6: Is Milos Island the 'Next Big Thing'?
Today we relocate by flight from Santorini Island to Milos Island. After arrival, we begin exploring the island. Firstly, we are taken to a village called Mandrakia. There we purchase lunch. After our meal, we are taken to a village called Klima. There we see picturesque fishermen’s houses built right alongside the coastline. Next, we are taken to the catacombs. There we are provided with a guided tour.
After the catacombs tour, we walk to the nearby ancient amphitheater. We then walk to the church of Profitis Ilias. There we have nice views overlooking the town. We are then taken to a beach called Firopotamos. There we check out the views. Next, we are taken to a beach called Papafragas. There we find a stunning view of the coastline.
We are then taken to a beach called Alogomandra. There we go for a quick swim. We are then taken to a beach called Sarakiniko. There we have plenty of time for swimming. We then are taken to the village of Plaka. There we are taken on a 15-minute hike to a viewpoint called Agios Andreas. There we watch the sunset.
Day 7: Greece at its Most Authentic
Today we explore Milos Island further. The beaches in Milos are among Greece’s most beautiful, with their distinct rock formations. Less visited than the world-renowned islands of Santorini and Mykonos, Milos is no less stunning in terms of its natural attractions and old town.
Firstly, we are taken to a beach called Adamas. There we go on a boat ride along the southern coastline. We cruise by several beautiful beaches, including Kleftiko and Sikia. Lunch is included on today’s tour. After the boat tour, we are taken to a beach called Thiorichia. There we enjoy the views of the coastline. After Thiorichia, we head back to Plaka. There we purchase dinner.
Day 8: The Place in the Mediterranean to See & Be Seen
Today we relocate by boat from Milos Island to Mykonos Island and explore. Now famed for seasonally hosting some of the best beach parties and nightlife in all the Mediterranean as well as featuring an exciting fashion scene combined with stylish bars, restaurants and shops, what initially put Mykonos under the international spotlight is its clear and calm waters and quintessential Cycladic architecture. Although Mykonos is one of Greece’s chicest and most visited destinations, the island feels overcrowded only in July and August.
Firstly, we are taken to a beach called Psarrou. Next, we are taken to a beach called Platys Gyalos. Next, we are taken to a beach called Super Paradise. It is renowned for its all-day parties. We are then taken to a nudist beach called Elia. Next, we are taken to a beach called Kalo Livadi. Next, we are taken to a village called Ano Mera. There we walk the charming streets. The evening ends with vibrant nightlife found in maze-like alleyways. The areas of Ornos and Little Venice are especially lively, filled with restaurants and bars.
Day 9: The Distinct Buildings & Maze-Like Alleys You’ve Seen on Instagram
Before relocating by flight from Mykonos Island to the island of Zakynthos, we explore the old town: whitewashed cubic buildings, a labyrinth of narrow and stone-paved alleyways and numerous little churches dotted around town. Firstly, we are taken to “Little Venice.” There we see restaurants lining against the shore. Next, we are taken to the windmills. Next, we are taken to a beach called Ftelia. There we can purchase lunch. After our meal, we are taken to a beach called Panormos. Next, we are taken to two beaches located next to each other. They are called Agios Sostis and Lover’s Beach. We arrive on Zakynthos Island in the evening.
Day 10: Crystal Colored & Postcard Perfect
We explore Zakynthos Island today. Firstly, we are taken to Banana Beach. It is known for its long stretch of golden sand and crystal-clear waters. Next, we are taken to Laganas Beach. Next, we are taken to a viewpoint called Mizithres. We see rock formations and the Ionian Sea. Next, we are taken to a small and secluded beach called Porto Roxa. Next, we are taken to a beach called Porto Limnionas. There we see rock formations and crystal-clear waters. Next, we are taken to the small village of Kampi. There we watch the sunset. Next, we are taken back to Laganas. We explore its vibrant nightlife. We are then taken back to our hotel.
Day 11: A Famous Shipwreck Site
We then continue exploring Zakynthos Island, visiting several of its scenic beaches. Highlights include Alikanas Beach, Xygia Sulfur Beach, Makrys Gyalos Beach and Mantrakia Beach. In the afternoon, we take a boat excursion from Agios Nikolaos Port, exploring the Blue Caves, Cape Skinari and Shipwreck Beach. Swimming is permitted along the way. It is renowned for its dramatic cliffs, sweeping sea views and historic lighthouse.

Before relocating to the city of Thessaloniki, we explore more monasteries in the Kalabaka area. We start with Moni Rousanou followed by Moni Agias Triados and finally, Moni Agiou Stefanou. After visiting these monasteries, We then continue to the village of Kastraki. There we enjoy a scenic viewpoint. We then depart for Thessaloniki. We explore this city on a walking tour. Highlights include the White Tower, the Statue of Alexander the Great and a modern art installation known as the ‘Umbrellas’. Our night ends at a rooftop bar, which offers a panoramic view of the city.
Day 19: Eastern Orthodox Architecture at its Finest
Today we make a daytrip to the coastal village of Ouranoupolis. There we board a cruise along the coastline. During this cruise, we admire the architecturally impressive monasteries of Mount Athos. Frequently Asked Questions
Can We Customize This Tour?
We are open to customizing this tour to your liking, even though the itinerary we recommend is rock solid. As our tour is currently advertised, you absolutely will not find another one out there as packed with activities and attractions. What’s more, you will not find another tour out there that offers it all "FIRST CLASS," yet for a relatively low price. We have thousands of travelers taking this specific tour every year, and that's because no competitor can beat us on quality, price & substance.
Is Travel Insurance Required & Included?
All participants are required to book travel insurance within 72 hours of booking this tour. At a minimum, such insurance must cover cancellations, medical expenses, evacuations, flight loss or delays and 24/7 assistance.
How Much Does This Tour Cost & Is Financing Offered?
A 4-installment payment plan is available, often with 0 percent interest to those with at least decent credit. Ask us for details. Our luxury-oriented and itinerary-packed “Greece Grand Tour” is available for $7,959 USD per person. This price includes all transportation, except airfare. It also includes an English-speaking escort driver, food, all activities mentioned in the standard itinerary and all entry fees. If you would like lodging included for all nights on this tour, then the combined (transportation, escort driver, food, activities, entry fees and lodging) total would be $11,122 USD per person. This price is based on 2 per room and is offered to those booking at least 6 weeks in advance. Note that there is a $30 USD fee if paying by bank transfer or a 4.6 percent surcharge for payments made by credit card. We accept both forms of payment. We do not accept checks. Moving forward, to better understand your specific circumstances and wishes, and for us to accurately quote you, please tell us:
1. Do you prefer getting domestic airfare through us or directly with the airlines? You have both options. Either way, we tell you the exact flights you would need for this tour. Note there is a $100 USD ‘booking fee’ which guarantees not only booking airfare but also that a CharlieTheTraveler representative would be on the phone and/or using live chat with the airlines should there need to be a possible change to your flight.
2. Not least, do you prefer a female escort driver over a male one?
3. Lastly, many of our customers combine our Greece tour with our Turkey tour. You can find our Turkey tour here: charliethetraveler.com/our-multiday-tours/Turkey Would you like to combine Greece and Turkey into one trip?
What’s Excluded in the Price?
There is a hotel sales tax which guests are required to pay directly. Unfortunately, the Greek government does not permit anyone except for the guests themselves to pay this. Also excluded...
Any airfare, alcohol, travel insurance, any government-imposed visa fees, tour guides and anything not mentioned in the itinerary
Although airfare is not included in the price, we will find you the exact flights you need. Just ask.
Regarding tour guides in Greece, we are replacing them with escort drivers. Why? Tour guides are not allowed to drive tourists. At the same time, escort drivers are not allowed to enter any attractions with you. Why? It is simply Greek government bureaucracy. Information about these attractions is to be provided to you before entering them.
Are Domestic Flights Needed for This Tour?
Below are the domestic flights needed for this tour:
Day 1: Athens to Chania
Day 6: Santorini Island to Milos Island
Day 9: Mykonos Island to Zakynthos
Day 14: Lefkada Island to Corfu Island
Day 20: Thessaloniki to Rhodes
Day 22: Rhodes Town to Athens
After booking our tour package, we would send you screenshots of what you need to purchase (airlines, flight number and date) and you would then book directly with the carrier. You should almost never book airfare through a third party. The exception is when booking specifically international business class airfare from the United States. Sometimes this specific scenario provides a significant saving for the customer. Does CharlieTheTraveler book airfare on customers' behalf? Yes, both international and domestic. Ask us for details.
Note that CharlieTheTraveler cannot guarantee the airfare type it quotes you will be fully refundable. This is one of the reasons why we require customers to have travel insurance. Some airlines offer fully refundable airfare with a relatively low upcharge while others offer strictly non-refundable. Equally unsurprising, some airlines offer fully refundable airfare but with significant upcharges. If you are seeking airfare which guarantees cancellation without penalty, then please state this in writing when asking CharlieTheTraveler to book on your behalf.

We would do our best to keep you safe and make you as comfortable as possible, as well as make special arrangements to address your situation.
