CharlieTheTraveler’s itinerary is quite extensive. It is obvious the company does not want its customers to miss any important destinations and attractions. CharlieTheTraveler is very easy to reach, making their personal concierges, booking agents, tour guides and even the Founder himself all available to you if you are in need of anything. CharlieTheTraveler puts its heart into its services and prioritizes safety and trust above all else. The prices are quite reasonable, especially considering they sell first-class experiences and the hotels they use are almost all 5-star (or 4-star in areas where 5-star hotels do not exist). They basically do all the thinking for you, providing all the tour guides and ground transportation. Their tours are set up in a way in which you do not need to arrange anything yourself but rather just have fun. CharlieTheTraveler deserves all the business it gets from travelers from all around the world.

Charlie called me after we booked and we talked for about 30 minutes about Belize and all the things to do. Evelyn (with Charlie the Traveler) sent us our itinerary 2 weeks before our trip and it was jam packed with adventures: cave tubing, cave canoeing, snorkeling, visiting the Mayan ruins including a massive cave adventure, the zoo, and more. Our tour guide in country, Valentin, was incredibly knowledgeable, punctual, professional, and funny. We felt very safe and taken care of. 5.0Excellent14th November 2023I recently got back from a two week trip to Morocco. When I was researching the many available tour packages with different companies, I stumbled upon CharlieTheTraveler’s website. I liked the itinerary for Morocco and I liked the price, but what I really loved was the flexibility in allowing me to pause the trip on certain days if I wanted to stay longer in a specific city. This flexibility is not usually available with other companies. Those companies only allow you to add days before and after the tour. I ended up pausing my trip for a free day in Marrakech and a free day in Fes. Had I known that I was going to love Marrakech as much as I did, I would have paused the trip for 3-4 days longer in that city alone. After booking everything with Charlie’s company, I only needed to send flight information and proof of travel insurance. Everything else was taken care of. About 2 weeks before the trip, I received my itinerary and I was good to go. My main point of contact for my duration in Morocco was Medhi. He was there waiting for me when I landed in Marrakech and drove me to the hotel. He was such a great guy and took care of anything that came up. At the end of each day, he would message me in WhatsApp to see how the day went since each day I had different excursions in different cities based on the itinerary. Medhi will go out of his way to make sure you have a great trip. I had some really awesome drivers and tour guides as well. Faissal and Reféx in Casablanca were exceptional. Faissal drove me to the mall to get something from the grocery store that’s not readily available back in America, and then drove me to a place that had excellent msemen flatbread. Reféx took me to the airport on my last day. My guide in Fes was Lahcen and he was very knowledgeable about the city and gave great tips to avoid local hustlers trying to take advantage of tourists. One of the days in Fes, I had a cooking class with a view overlooking the city. It was definitely a highlight of the trip. Fatima and I walked the market picking out produce and meat for the dishes I chose to make. The food was so delicious and Fatima and her grandmother were both so nice and generous. My hotels were all quite nice, but I have to say that the Riad Anata in Fes was my favorite accommodation. It had the most comfortable bed and a shower that you just didn’t want to get out of (the overhead rain faucet will spoil you). I got to meet the owner the first day I arrived. We had a great conversation up on the terrace for about an hour and a half. I have been back home in Texas now for a week and I am definitely missing Morocco (the food, the cities, the people, etc.) If you get the opportunity to go to Morocco, definitely give CharlieTheTraveler a chance. So not knowing where to begin in hunting for a reasonable, honest, flexible, thorough guide, I started on the internet. I saw Charlie the Traveler’s website and after doing some research, I may not have personally known anyone who has used Charlie the Traveler, but the reviews were exactly what I was looking for. I was able to tweak their standard itinerary, staying longer at some places, adding treks, and booking my own lodging. Upon arriving to the airport in Jordan, I was greeted by a local representative of Charlie the Traveler, ‘Sami’. I cannot praise Sami enough and Charlie for finding a guide who legitimately cared about the traveler’s experience. Sami made sure I was familiar with my itinerary Charlie’s company had prepared for me, even after all my adjustments. I never felt uncomfortable, afraid for my safety or like I was being ‘played’. Pick up and drop off times were always precise and reliable. I appreciate the care and reliability of Charlie the Traveler and his representatives. 5.0Excellent12th October 2023Such an impossible island, fierce, reserved, constantly restless beneath it’s surface … days of fire, klms of lava fields, raw, hissing in parts, covered in green moss in others, a national treasure … we hike a volcano and test hearts, lungs, backs, knees and toes, and brace .. and learn what it means to be blown off mountain tops … fabulous soaks in hot springs … we travel north for waterfalls and luck in with meeting minke and humpback whales as we cruise on a fjord which meets the sea .. a day of ice as we travel across the island to the south east … an abundance of Icelands 5000 waterfalls … spectacular autumn color on the rocky outposts close to the sea … next climb is a glacier hike … we don crampons, helmets and ice picks (a first!) and traverse a tiny fragment of the 9pc total that still defines this spectacular island … take time at Mitford for a 4 wheel adventure across volcanic territory and hike up a canyon at the foot of an impossibly named volcano which blew up 2010 (along with European plane travel!). I was planning to visit Morocco for a few year, but didn't have time to prepare my itinary. After checking internet I came across a few agencies, after getting more information I decided to contact CharliezTheTraveler, i liked their itinaries, i selected my trip. in Morocco a driver met me at airport. i never had problems moving from one city/town/village to another. i knew exactly what time my car/bus will come and name of a driver. i knew a name of my tour guide and what time he will meet me... i changed my plans a few times and didn't have any problems - everything was woven to my plan fast and it looked like nothing was changed. Mehdi, Morocan man, who loves his country very much and knows it very well and works with CharlieTheTravel. was calling me every evening (or sending a message) asking about my day experience and if everything was good as they promised, also, he was giving to me necessary information for next day. Mehdi told me, that Charlie(The Traveler) was in Morocco a few tlmes and personally checking his itinaries moving from one place to another. Rina is funny, smart and thoughtful. We picked her brain constantly and learned a ton about the history of Bali and Indonesia and what life is like today. Benny did a great job of driving. Any concern we felt while driving was undoubtedly due to the fluid, creative, and ‘just in time’ driving style of the Balinese. (also, did you know they have their steering wheel on the wrong side??) We pulled Benny into the conversations occasionally to get the Man’s viewpoint or the Muslim perspective. Each hotel was better than the previous one. Charlie the Traveler put together a custom “tour for two” on very short notice and it was first class all the way — from the Uyuni Salt Flats to our La Paz hotel with a view of the Carnaval Parade route to the guide who took us hiking high up into the Andes. William, our contact, was in constant communication with us. We had expert drivers, comfortable vehicles, and depending on the day’s itinerary we had different bilingual guides with really impressive knowledge of Bolivia’s cultural heritage and history. We learned a lot and ate well every day! Never felt more catered to, or more pampered, by a tour company. Felt like it was truly important to everyone that we had a good time: and we did! I had a blast tasting the fresh fruits and exploring the jungles and many waterfalls and seeing the natural wonders and animals of the variegated landscape. The lively nightlife of Tamarindo was vivacious! Good tunes and good people! The night hike in Monteverde’s cloud forest was crazy! Got to see so many critters and crawlers! The guides were eagle eyes! The waterfall rappelling in La Fortuna was incredible! Awesome getting to relax at the hot springs afterwards! Manuel Antonio was so lush and chill! The national park is beautiful and I fulfilled my sloth quota! The surfing school was rad; good teachers, muy divertido! Delicious ceviche! San Jose was very interesting! I cannot thank Charlie the Traveler and his local contacts (Medhi, my travel concierge, & co.) enough—it went beyond my expectations and was really superb. The riads and hotels were gorgeous, the meals delicious, and all of my guides and drivers worked to meet my needs and tailor the experience so it was memorable. I was a little nervous because I was traveling alone and everything was new to me, but I was provided first-class hospitality and in good hands every step of the way. There was a good variety of sightseeing and activities on this tour. As for souvenirs, so many great finds that I left clothes behind to make room in my suitcases. The desert camp was fun and the sky was amazing—my whole life, I have never seen the cosmos light up like that—and watching the sun rise over the Sahara was magical. I was paired with guides who were local to their cities, which was a nice touch, and each day was enriching and educational. Seeing the architecture & the artisans at work were just some aspects to Maroc where it’s this blend of old and new you should see yourself to truly appreciate. Even on day trips, I got to see so many different parts of the country, every visual along the road was a treat. The cooking class was outside my comfort zone, but I showed up and the host family was so kind and gracious—everyone was like this in Morocco. A taxi collected me at the airport and brought to my hotel. I liked the point that I could choose hotels where I stayed at Playa del Carmen and Cancun, so I could be in a walking distance from the centers and enjoy night life. 🤩 During these days pick-up services were organized by local tour offices and not all drivers could speak English. In cases of misunderstanding I contacted the CharlieTheTraveler local contact and he handled discussions. For these who going to take this tour I recommend having mobile internet on a phone. My tour was originally for 11 days, and without a problem I added 2 extra days in Manual Antonio. I requested more info on the tour and immediately received a response. I was really looking for something that would give me a little of everything that the Cou try has to offer. This trip was for active/ adventurous travelers, I'm 64, F, and was traveling solo. Charlie went over the tour and explained some of the bust / long days, he assured me that he had plenty of older singles that could keep up with this tour. I felt that this would be the best tour for my needs, and signed up. Every step of the process in getting ready for the trip was covered. Charlie handled everything in planning the trip and also sent very clear instructions o. What was needed for the trip, basic packing help and reminders, and tips on travel in Costa Rica such as tipping and timeliness issues that could arrise. He assigned me a concierge in Costa Rica that was with me by text 24 hours the entire trip. I never really felt alone. Each and every activity was well planned and professional. All of my guides were great people! Knowing guide names ahead of time when possible was also helpful. I also loved having my transportation taken care of and trusting that they would show up for me. I did observe other tourists on a couple of occasions having to sit, waiting for their transportation to fill so that they could go. Their driver's were waiting to fill their vehicle, convincing other tourists to take the trip while I hopped in my ride and we left. I felt like a V.I.P. While there was a fair amount of time in the car, having both a driver and tour guide kept everything moving smoothly. All accommodations were all top notch and the staff at Dwarka Royal Villas in Ubud particularly stand-out. The Nusa Penida add-on, which we did first, provided the opportunity to see some jaw dropping views and get real exercise taking the trails down the cliff face to beaches and temples. Scrambling down nearly vertical metal ladders on a 600’ descent, just after a recent rain and while wearing a sarong certainly added to the excitement factor. The country is beautiful, lush and bio-diverse. The people are amazing, and the food and various hotels were terrific! We had a great time with him…I think if I were to live anywhere in Eastern Europe, it would be Cappadocia. The fairy chimneys were phenomenal. Our guides told us of playing hide and seek in them when they were growing up. I can see myself doing the same. Staying in a cave was a new experience. We woke up our second morning to 11 inches of new snow…Tugba was our guide the first day…She was great and turned out to be our savior. Her husband Aras finished as our guide. As Tugba was the same size as us she loaned us long underwear, jackets and shirts to survive the balloon ride and tours. We saw everything on the agenda…The balloon ride was spectacular with the snow highlighting the fairy chimneys. It turned out Aras and I have a love of carpets. He took us to his home and gave us a private showing of his collection. Any spare time was spent discussing techniques, history and design of carpets. Istanbul was unexpected. I somehow had in my mind a picture of Arabian Nights. It is a large thriving Metropolitan City. I adore our guide Ayse and we are staying in communication and hopefully meeting in Italy in April…We saw everything possible in Istanbul with a good history to go with it. We saw everything on your schedule…Our guides took us to little hole-in-the-wall restaurants with marvelous food. We ate way too much, but we had to try everything. Numerous (5) requests for the same information. Upon attempting to confirm the return date to the US I received incorrect information leading to two additional days. Also additional costs were incurred with moving flights to adjust to the changes in their itinerary. On the plus side, the operator adjusted the itinerary when I was stuck in Ecuador. We had a concierge that i can reach went I had issue or changes and she was very helpful! As a solo traveler, you can chose your hotel or hostel depending the vibe you want to have. The transport was smooth, sometime in small buses, bigger buses and private transport. What is also nice is at every activity you change group so you can meet a lot of person and you are not « stock » with a group that you don’t like! I will recommend this tour if your want to see the most of Costa Rica and if you are an active person. If you want to relaxe it is maybe not the good tour for you or you can ask to extended your trip so you can have a rest day in the city you are visiting. The only « negatif point » is the schedule time. The activities were booked very close to my time of arrival at the hotel so sometime it was stressful and didn’t have time to check in in some of my hotel because the activity shuttle was close by. I had been trying to travel here for 2 years and other tour operated cancelled this trip on me multiple times since covid started. I'm grateful that I found Charlie's company and they were able to commit to the trip. It's great they let you pick your own travel dates too. They helped satisfy the 10 day quarantine requirement upon entry and coordinate everything for travel while you are there. There's so much variety in the terrain from deserts, lagoons, flatlands, amazon, mountains. It was my first time seeing flamingos, chinchillas and squirrel monkey. Such a wonderful experience. Bolivia is not an easy place to travel without local assistance, so I am glad they were able to coordinate everything on my behalf. Few things for other travelers to keep in mind: Bolivian schedules are often unpredictable. Sometimes buses and actives may run an hour or two late and it's just something that we can't control. So just be prepared for delays or extended times. I had to learn this the hard way and met other travelers with the same experiences. USA Travelers need a visa (I'd recommend applying in advance since it took a few hours at airport to purchase one upon arrival). There's not many direct flights so not easy to travel, but definitely worth it!Read More -
