Day 1: The ‘Red City’, the ‘Ochre City’ & the ‘Daughter of the Desert’
Our tour starts in Marrakesh, a city with more nicknames than most. Marrakesh is the fourth largest city in the country and yet, its most popular. It is from Marrakesh several daytrips are made. Today’s activities will depend on your arrival time. There is much to explore in and around the old town and it is easy to get lost. Thankfully, however, we have a private tour guide to show us Marrakesh’s impressive attractions: palaces, city views, a citadel, garden oases, tanneries, mosques and much more.
Day 2: Hiking to the Top of Giant Waterfalls & Approaching Them by Boat
We make a daytrip today to Ouzoud Falls. There we have a guided hiking tour as well as take a paddle boat ride. Ouzoud Falls is the collective name for several tall waterfalls which empty into the El-Abid River gorge. Ouzoud Falls, standing 600 meters tall, is unsurprisingly the most visited site in the region.
Day 3: Tree-Climbing Goats, an Organic Oil Factory & a Charming Coastal Town
We make another daytrip today, this time heading to Essaouira. En route, we pass by tree-climbing goats (really, no joke!) and stop at a small factory where organic argan oil is produced. This oil is good for skin and hair. Once in Essaouira, we are provided with a guided tour. The partially fortified old town (a.k.a. medina) has a layout designed by European colonists in the late 18th century. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the medina is dotted with bastions, ramparts, art galleries and lively outdoor markets.
On a side note, swimming is encouraged only in the summer months, as the water is too cold during the winter and even fall seasons.
Day 4: Over a Dozen Outdoor Markets, Street Entertainers & Architectural Landmarks
Today is all about exploring Marrakesh. Home to around 18 markets (a.k.a. souks), some describe this city as ‘one giant marketplace’. Historically, Marrakesh has served as a marketplace where tribesmen and Berber villagers would buy and sell goods (such as carpets) and find entertainment on the streets. Hundreds of years later, the goods and especially the entertainment are as alive as ever. The heart of the city is Jemaa el-Fnaa Square. Expect to see acrobats, drummers, pipe musicians, dancers, storytellers, comedians and fairground acts. No less compelling than these entertainers are the city’s architectural attractions. We spend the day visiting them.
Day 5: The Country’s Iconic Village & One of the Largest Movie Studios in the World
Although we relocate from Marrakesh ultimately to a village in the desert, we make two must-visit stops along the way. The first stop is to the historic and fortified village of Ait Benhaddou and second, to the town of Ouarzazate. Ait Benhaddou serves as a fine example of Morocco’s earthen clay architecture. Several films shot in Morocco have used both Ait Benhaddou and Ouarzazate as locations. Movies filmed there include The Mummy, Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Ouarzazate is a town best known for its film studio called Atlas Studios. Atlas is one of the largest movie studios in the world in terms of land area. We visit a cinema museum which displays many of the studio's props.
Day 6: Daydreaming in the Sahara Desert, Dinner & a Show Under the Stars & Sleeping in a Luxury Camp
We are relocating once again. Our desert exploration continues north today. The first destination is Dades Gorges. They are a series of rugged wadi gorges carved out by the river. The next destination is Todgha (a.k.a. Todra) Gorges. They are a series of limestone river canyons. En route to our final destination, Erg Chebbi, we make a stop in the village of Rissani, home to a locally famous pizza-like dish called madfouna. Erg Chebbi is where our luxury camp is located. We sleep in a tent. Erg Chebbi is essentially a large sea of red dunes formed by wind-blown sand. After arrival, we go camel riding with a tour guide. Dinner is included on today’s tour. Before the night ends, we watch a traditional show with music and fire.
Important to note, although the camp usually has Wi-Fi and should have electricity, outages do happen from time to time.
Day 7: Monkeys & the Middle Ages Meet the 21st Century
After breakfast, which is included on today’s tour, we go quad riding and reach the nearby village of Merzouga. We then relocate to the city of Fez (also spelled Fes). Several scenic stops are made along the way, such as to Ziz Valley and the Cèdre Gouraud Forest, the latter of which is home to monkeys. Fez will for sure stimulate our senses. It is the firstborn of Morocco’s four royal capitals and arguably the best-preserved medieval city of the Arab world.
Day 8: Meal Inside a Native’s Home & the Best-Preserved Medieval City of the Arab World
Fez is truly a crossbreed between the Middle Ages and the modern times. Today we dive right into the sightseeing: fortresses, mosques, a tannery, centuries-old brass-working shops, a historic university, city views, souks and more. Fez is Morocco’s second most popular tourist destination after Marrakesh, but it hosts no fewer must-see landmarks. Following the tour, we are taken to a native Moroccan’s home. There we watch how traditional food is prepared as well as have dinner. The combination of tasty cuisine, rich culture and good company creates an unforgettable experience.
Day 9: The Blue Pearl Village of Africa
Today we relocate to a charming blue village called Chefchaouen. It is nicknamed the 'blue pearl of Morocco'. The beauty of Chefchaouen's mountainous surroundings is enhanced by the contrast of the brightly painted old town. It is an attractive place for tourists generally and influencers especially. There are so many postcard-perfection locations to take a selfie. Among the places we visit is, of course, the main square. It is lined with cafes and is filled to the brim with locals and tourists mingling.
Day 10: Casablanca or Tangier, Your Choice!
Where we relocate today depends on whether you will be leaving the country from Casablanca or from Tangier. If the former, then we will visit the giant Hassan II Mosque. Completed in 1993, it is the second largest functioning mosque in Africa and is the 7th largest in the world. Its minaret is the world's second tallest at 210 metres (689 feet). If you are departing Morocco tomorrow from Tangier, then we do a city tour: a citadel, ramparts, street shops, public squares, markets, gardens, mosques and more.
Day 11: Our Tour Ends Today
Transportation will be arranged for you to reach Tangier's airport or harbor or Casablanca's airport, whichever you prefer. Note there is an additional charge to be dropped off in Tangier.

Morocco was a dream-come-true vacation for me. Morocco was a great touring destination and CharlieTheTraveler planned daytrips that highlighted this. Is Financing Offered for This Tour?
A 4-installment payment plan is available, often with 0 percent interest to those with at least decent credit. Ask us for details. Our luxury-oriented and itinerary-packed “Morocco in 11 Days” tour is available for $2,242 USD per person. This price includes all transportation, except flights. It also includes English-speaking tour guides, food, all activities and all entry fees. Also included is 1 night of lodging in the desert. If you would like lodging included for the remaining 10 nights on this tour, then the combined (transportation, tour guides, food, activities, entry fees and lodging) total would be $2,872 USD per person. This price is based on 2 per room and is offered to those booking at least 6 weeks in advance. Note that whereas there is no fee associated with paying by check, there is a 3.5 percent surcharge for payments made by credit card. We accept both forms of payment. Is This a Private or Group Tour?
Typically, all city sightseeing tours and the traditional dinner class are exclusive to you and whomever else you may book on behalf of. Specifically for solo travelers and parties of 2, all the other activities are shared with other travelers, namely the daytrip to Ouzoud Falls and the 2-day desert safari starting in Marrakesh and ending in Fez. If you are specifically a party of 2, are you interested in upgrading from shared to all private for all days on this tour?
Am I Sharing the Room with Someone?
Your room is exclusive to you and whomever is in your party. Strangers (meaning customers who book on the same start date but do not know each other) do not share rooms on this tour. On a side note, please let us know if you and the other person(s) in your booking want separate rooms.
What is the Age Range & Nationality of the People Who Book This Tour?
Although we get customers of all ages and from several countries, our statistics show most people who book are 30 to 65 years old and from USA, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Are Kids Allowed on This Tour & Are They Charged the Same as Adults?
We welcome your kids specifically and only when the tour is exclusive to you and your group-meaning other customers are not joining you. We define kids as anyone under 18 years old. In order to make the tour exclusive to you and your group, your booking would need to be for 4 persons or more for any of our tours except Iceland. For our Iceland tour, your booking would need to be for 8 persons or more. Regarding the cost of bringing a non-adult, we do deduct from the total based on the amount of activities you request we remove from the tour. Note that reducing the total price of the tour by removing activities is something offered for non-adults only. Adults can opt out of activities but the total price does not change.
How Strong Do I Need to Be For This Trip?
We do not expect you to be an Olympic champion. We know some of the tour members are more fit than others…and we are well prepared for this. However, we do hope you take into consideration this is a very active tour, just like every other tour we offer.
Are Disabled People Allowed on This Tour?
Please let us know about any disability you have. Some disabilities would not affect you taking this tour. Others would prevent you from joining altogether. Although we want all of our customers to have fun, your safety is our first priority.
Do I Get Any Free Time to Myself?
Of course. Once each day’s tour is over, you have the rest of the evening to yourself. Because our tours tend to be very active, our customers typically want to simply relax once the sun sets.
What Happens If I Arrive Late?
Notify us as soon as possible and we will do our very best to arrange a meeting point. Please note that we do not refund for any days or activities that you miss.
Can I Opt-Out of Certain Activities?
Generally speaking, you can opt out as long as we are given adequate notice. Please note that opting out of certain activities does not reduce the price of this tour.
What Happens If I Get Injured on This Trip & Cannot Continue?
We would do our best to keep you safe and make you as comfortable as possible, as well as make special arrangements to address your situation. Partial refunds are not offered if you cannot continue with the tour. However, most travel insurances reimburse you for such situations. This is one of many reasons why we require our customers to purchase travel insurance before taking this tour.
What Happens If I Cancel This Trip?
To confirm your tour, full payment is needed at the time of your purchase. However, refunds are offered. You will receive a full refund if canceling at least 91 days in advance from the departure date. Cancelling between 90-60 days prior to departure entitles you to a 50 percent refund. Cancelling between 59-31 days prior to departure entitles you to a 25 percent refund. Canceling 30 days or less prior to departure is not eligible for a refund. Cancellation requests need to be made by email and become effective on the date received by CharlieTheTraveler.
What Happens If You, CharlieTheTraveler, Cancel This Trip?
In the unlikely event CharlieTheTraveler needs to cancel this trip, such as because of very poor weather conditions, we will give you a full refund for the tour within 14 business days of the cancellation. Note: We are not a participant in the California Travel Consumer Restitution Fund, nor is this transaction covered by the Restitution Fund.
How Do You Help Prepare Us For This Trip?
You should receive an email from us within 24 hours of purchasing this tour as well as a week before departure. The first email gives details about what to bring, how to prepare yourself, etc. The second email is more like a timetable combined with important contact information.
Is There Anything Out of the Ordinary I Should Bring on This Trip?
Other than possibly needing adapters for your electronic devices, no.

Our tour guides/drivers are licensed, speak English and know how to bring excitement to your day. What we deliver is the complete opposite of the cookie-cutting tours the big corporations offer, leaving you in complete boredom. Although our tour guides/drivers are attentive, accommodating and engaged, they also know when to give you your private space and free time. It's a perfect balance.
