      Our Tour Package Itinerary

Our tour to Argentina starts in the city of Mendoza. This charming city is known for its numerous resorts, wineries and stunning Andean landscape. After settling into our hotel, we are taken by car to a winery. There we are provided with a tour of the vineyards and cellars. Wine samples are included on this tour. We are then taken to another winery. Lunch is included on today’s tour and is served upon arrival. After our meal, we are provided with a tour of the vineyards and cellars. Wine samples are included here as well. After visiting the winery, we are taken back to our hotel.

We are making a daytrip today. We are firstly taken to some vineyards called Potrerillos, then to an Andean village known for the nearby desert mountains called Uspallata, then a natural arch which forms a bridge over a river called Puente del Inca and lastly, Aconcagua Provincial Park. This park offers breathtaking Andean scenery, a view of the Americas’ highest peak called Mount Aconcagua, diverse animals like condors (a bird type) and guanacos (similar to a llama), significant Inca trail archaeological sites and treks to stunning viewpoints and lagoons.

We aren’t relocating by flight from Mendoza to the city of Salta just yet. That’s for later today. Depending on your arrival time on Day 1, today we visit wineries outside of town or are provided with a guided tour of the city center of Mendoza. This is a bustling yet relaxed city with a lively atmosphere. Mendoza offers a mix of urban charm and Andean adventure, centered around its famous wine culture with numerous wineries to tour. Mendoza also features vibrant plazas like Plaza Independencia and Plaza España.

We are not relocating by shuttle bus to the very colorful village of Pumamarca just yet. Firstly, we are taken to salt flats called Salinas Grandes. These are otherworldly salt flats offering stunning photo ops and shimmering mirages. We are then taken to our hotel in Pumamarca. This village offers spectacular mountain views and an authentic connection to Andean culture. We enjoy the rest of the day by exploring this village freely.

We are not relocating back to the city of Salta just yet. Firstly, we are taken to the small town of Tilcara. It offers stunning scenery, vibrant local culture and rich indigenous history centered around the ancient Pucará de Tilcara ruins. Next, we are taken to Uquía. This village is popular for its unique angel paintings located in its church. From Uquía, we are taken to a stunning, multi-colored mountain range called Hornocal (a.k.a. Mountain of 14 Colors). This UNESCO World Heritage site features layered slopes created by mineral-rich sedimentary rock. From Hornocal, we are taken to the small town of Humahuaca. After our meal, we have some time to walk around town freely. There we enjoy the colonial buildings, charming cobblestone streets and vibrant Andean culture. There are two viewpoint stops to make before returning to Salta. The first is at Tropic of Capricorn and second, at Painter’s Palette.

We are making a daytrip today. Specifically, we visit a mountain called Pie de la Cuesta del Obispo, a viewpoint called Cuesta del Obispo, a viewpoint called Piedra del Molino, Los Cardones National Park and a viewpoint called Nevado de Cachi. Pie de la Cuesta del Obispo features dramatic, ever-changing Andean landscapes, shifting from lush-green to red-rock canyons and high desert altiplano. It offers breathtaking panoramic views, unique geological formations, historical Inca trail remnants and chances to see birds called condors. Los Cardones National Park offers iconic, towering cacti forests, dramatic Andean landscapes, incredible wildlife, remnants of ancient Inca roads and significant paleontological sites with dinosaur fossils. Once back in Salta, make sure to check out the lively main square. It is best appreciated in the evening.

We are making another daytrip today. Firstly, we visit the Quebrada de las Conchas Nature Preserve. We then visit Cafayate. Quebrada de las Conchas Nature Preserve offers stunning, multi-colored rock formations carved by wind and water and a vibrant desert ecosystem with cacti. Cafayate features stunning Andean scenery, colonial charm and world-class wineries, all accessible from the walkable, lively and picturesque main square. Wine samples are included while in Cafayate. After the wine tour, we are taken back to our hotel.

Before relocating by flight from Salta to the town of Puerto Iguazu, we are provided with a guided walking tour of the town. Salta offers stunning Andean scenery, well-preserved colonial architecture, rich history and vibrant culture. One of the highlights for today is taking a cable car ride and getting stunning views over the city.

We are making a daytrip today. Specifically, we are taken to the Brazilian side of the world’s largest waterfall system. There we take a helicopter flightseeing tour over the gigantic Iguazu Falls. After the flightseeing tour, we are taken on a hiking trail along the Brazilian side of these waterfalls. Next, we are taken to a bird park called Parque Das Aves. After visiting this bird park, we are taken back to our hotel.

We are not relocating by flight to the capital city Buenos Aires just yet. Beforehand, we are taken by car to an entry point from where we start our boat ride to the Argentinian side of the waterfalls. This journey is wet but exciting nonetheless. Next, we are taken on a tourist train which travels along the waterfalls’ so-called ‘Devil’s Throat’ circuit. After getting off this train, we walk the upper circuit and then, the lower circuit.

Transportation will be arranged for you to reach the airport in Buenos Aires.

We recommend you stay longer so you can explore the capital. If you do, then specifically today, firstly we are taken by foot to the main public square. It is called Plaza de Mayo. There we find the Presidential Palace called Casa Rosada, the Metropolitan Cathedral and a historic colonial-era building (once the seat of Spain’s colonial government) called ‘the Cabildo’. We are provided with a guided tour of the cathedral. Next, we are taken to the San Telmo neighborhood. There we explore antique shops, galleries and a historic, cobblestoned public square called Plaza Dorrego. Next, we are taken to a neighborhood called La Boca. It is famous for its brightly painted houses and street performers.

After La Boca, we are taken by car to a cemetery called Recoleta. This is an open-air museum showcasing stunning architecture (Art Deco, Baroque and Neo-Gothic), intricate statues and ornate mausoleums, serving as the final resting place for Argentina’s elite, including the famous tomb of the Former First Lady of Argentina, Eva Peron. This cemetery offers a fascinating glimpse into history, art and local culture through its detailed crypts and famous residents. After visiting the cemetery, we are taken to a waterfront called Puerto Madero. It features impressive architecture, shopping, green spaces, upscale restaurants and a vibrant nightlife scene. Lastly, we are taken to a neighborhood called Palermo. It features a vibrant mix of extensive green spaces, unique shopping and beautiful architecture. The nightlife here is also great.

I loved my trip with CharlieTheTraveler. This journey through northern Argentina felt vast in the best possible way. Sipping wine in Mendoza, standing at the edge of Iguazu Falls, every destination felt carefully chosen. This company's attention to detail made a complex itinerary run smoothly. I'd happily book another tour with them again.

The landscapes were unlike anything I've seen before. The Salt Flats of Salinas Grandes and the Hornocal mountains looked unreal. Having a well-organized company like CharlieTheTraveler made it possible to enjoy these remote places without worry.

I really appreciated how much variety this tour offered. Wine country, high Andes, colorful villages, and then the power of Iguazu Falls; nothing felt repetitive. This company does a good job at balancing pacing and flow.

This was actually my second time in Argentina, though the first I went by myself. This was such a different vibe; this time, I felt like I really got to experience the culture deeply through the high-quality activities and guides chosen. And, I didn't have to worry about any of the logistics since I knew CharlieTheTraveler had everything under control. It was awesome, and made me realize that tour companies are nice to use once in a while.

Standing on the viewing platform at Devil's Throat, feeling the mist and hearing the roar of the Iguazu Falls, I was completely overwhelmed. It reminded me how powerful nature can be. This tour by CharlieTheTraveler brought me moments like this one that I'll never forget, thank you for everything.

We had an amazing time on this tour of Argentina by CharlieTheTraveler. The wine tastings in Mendoza were relaxed and intimate rather than rushed or commercial. I liked that this company included time to enjoy lunch at wineries instead of just moving us along. Everything was seamlessly paced, better than my experience with other similar tours with other companies!

Loved this tour. Cafayate surprised me. The wine, the laid-back town square, and the dramatic rock formations pretty much made it one of my favorite stops. This itinerary made certain places shine, which would otherwise be overlooked by most travelers.

      Frequently Asked Questions

      Can We Customize This Tour?

We are open to customizing this tour to your liking, even though the itinerary we recommend is rock solid. As our tour is currently advertised, you absolutely will not find another one out there as packed with activities and attractions. What’s more, you will not find another tour out there that offers it all "FIRST CLASS," yet for a relatively low price. We have thousands of travelers taking this specific tour every year, and that's because no competitor can beat us on quality, price & substance.

Is Travel Insurance Required & Included?

All participants are required to book travel insurance within 72 hours of booking this tour. At a minimum, such insurance must cover cancellations, medical expenses, evacuations, flight loss or delays and 24/7 assistance.

How Much Does This Tour Cost & Is Financing Offered?

A 4-installment payment plan is available, often with 0 percent interest to those with at least decent credit. Ask us for details. Our luxury-oriented and itinerary-packed “Argentina North in 11 Days” tour is available for $2,828 USD per person. This price includes all transportation, except airfare. It also includes tour guides, all activities mentioned in the standard itinerary and all entry fees. If you would like lodging included for all nights on this tour, then the combined (transportation, tour guides, breakfasts, activities, entry fees and lodging) total would be $3,628 USD per person. This price is based on 2 per room and is offered to those booking at least 6 weeks in advance. Note that there is a $30 USD fee if paying by bank transfer or a 4.6 percent surcharge for payments made by credit card. We accept both forms of payment. We do not accept checks. Moving forward, to better understand your specific circumstances and wishes, and for us to accurately quote you, please tell us:

      1. Due to the infrequent direct flights within Argentina, we recommend you arrive in the city of Mendoza on any Sunday or Thursday, reached through the capital city of Buenos Aires. Are you okay with that? If not possible for you, then we will offer alternatives. Nonetheless, first arriving in Mendoza on any Sunday or Thursday are the best options in terms of having a smooth itinerary.

      2. Do you prefer getting domestic airfare through us or directly with the airlines? You have both options. Either way, we tell you the exact flights you would need for this tour. Note there is a $100 USD ‘booking fee’ which guarantees not only booking airfare but also that a CharlieTheTraveler representative would be on the phone and/or using live chat with the airlines should there need to be a possible change to your flight(s).

3.It takes a good 6 full days to see all the worthwhile attractions in Buenos Aires, but of course, few people have that sort of time. If you would like to extend this 11-day tour specifically so one of our tour guides could show you some of Buenos Aires’ famous attractions, then how many days would you like there? Note that this 11-day tour does not include any touring in Buenos Aires.

      4. Also, if you do wish to have a private tour of Buenos Aires, then do you have a preference between a male or female tour guide?

      5. Not least, the Iguazu Waterfalls is the final destination on our Argentina North tour as well as the first destination on our Brazil South tour. These waterfalls sit between these two countries. Would you like to combine our Argentina North tour with our Brazil South tour? You can find our Brazil South tour here: CharlieTheTraveler.com/multiday-tours/Brazil-South

      6. Lastly, many of our customers combine our Argentina North tour with our Argentina South tour. You can find our Argentina South tour here: CharlieTheTraveler.com/multiday-tours/Argentina-South Would you like to combine our two Argentina tours into one trip? This takes 21 days to complete, including the day you arrive into Argentina and depart from Buenos Aires.

      What’s Excluded in the Price?

Any airfare, alcohol, travel insurance, any government-imposed visa fees and anything not mentioned in the itinerary

Although airfare is not included in the price, we will find you the exact flights you need. Just ask.

Are Domestic Flights Needed for This Tour?

Below are the domestic flights needed for this tour:

Day 1: Buenos Aires to Mendoza

      Day 3: Mendoza to Salta

Day 8: Salta to Puerto Iguazu

Day 10: Puerto Iguazu to Buenos Aires

After booking our tour package, we would send you screenshots of what you need to purchase (airlines, flight number and date) and you would then book directly with the carrier. You should almost never book airfare through a third party. The exception is when booking specifically international business class airfare from the United States. Sometimes this specific scenario provides a significant saving for the customer. Does CharlieTheTraveler book airfare on customers' behalf? Yes, both international and domestic. Ask us for details.

Note that CharlieTheTraveler cannot guarantee the airfare type it quotes you will be fully refundable. This is one of the reasons why we require customers to have travel insurance. Some airlines offer fully refundable airfare with a relatively low upcharge while others offer strictly non-refundable. Equally unsurprising, some airlines offer fully refundable airfare but with significant upcharges. If you are seeking airfare which guarantees cancellation without penalty, then please state this in writing when asking CharlieTheTraveler to book on your behalf.

At What Specific Hotels Would We Be Staying?

Below are the names of the hotels where we commonly have our customers stay. Note this is subject to availability.

Nights 1–2: Mendoza City, Preferred Accommodation: Diplomatic Hotel or Park Hyatt Mendoza

Night 3: Salta City, Preferred Accommodation: Hotel Alejandro I

Night 10: Buenos Aires Airport, Preferred Accommodation: Marriott Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport

Is This a Private or Group Tour?

Although most activities on this multi-day tour are shared with other travelers, we can make the trip almost completely private, per your request, at an additional cost. Typically, the Iguazu Waterfalls walking tours, the Salta city sightseeing tour and the Mendoza city sightseeing tour (depending on your arrival time) are the only activities which are exclusive to you and whomever else you may book on behalf of.

*Note that you are not with the same travelers and tour guides throughout your trip. Instead, you usually meet and engage with new people. Also, note that it is not a guarantee that the shared tours you are to join will be provided in English.

Am I Sharing the Room with Someone?

Your room is exclusive to you and whomever is in your party. Strangers (meaning customers who book on the same start date but do not know each other) do not share rooms on this tour. On a side note, please let us know if you and the other person(s) in your booking want separate rooms.

What is the Age Range & Nationality of the People Who Book This Tour?

Although we get customers of all ages and from several countries, our statistics show most people who book are 30 to 65 years old and from USA, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Are Kids Allowed on This Tour & Are They Charged the Same as Adults?

We welcome your kids specifically and only when the tour is exclusive to you and your group-meaning other customers are not joining you. We define kids as anyone under 18 years old. In order to make the tour exclusive to you and your group, your booking would need to be for 4 persons or more for any of our tours except Iceland. For our Iceland tour, your booking would need to be for 8 persons or more. Regarding the cost of bringing a non-adult, we do deduct from the total based on the amount of activities you request we remove from the tour. Note that reducing the total price of the tour by removing activities is something offered for non-adults only. Adults can opt out of activities but the total price does not change.

How Strong Do I Need to Be For This Trip?

We do not expect you to be an Olympic champion. We know some of the tour members are more fit than others…and we are well prepared for this. However, we do hope you take into consideration this is a very active tour, just like every other tour we offer.

Are Disabled People Allowed on This Tour?

Please let us know about any disability you have. Some disabilities would not affect you taking this tour. Others would prevent you from joining altogether. Although we want all of our customers to have fun, your safety is our first priority.

Do I Get Any Free Time to Myself?

Of course. Once each day’s tour is over, you have the rest of the evening to yourself. Because our tours tend to be very active, our customers typically want to simply relax once the sun sets.

What Happens If I Arrive Late?

Notify us as soon as possible and we will do our very best to arrange a meeting point. Please note that we do not refund for any days or activities that you miss.

Can I Opt-Out of Certain Activities?

Generally speaking, you can opt out as long as we are given adequate notice. Please note that opting out of certain activities does not reduce the price of this tour.

What Happens If I Get Injured on This Trip & Cannot Continue?

We would do our best to keep you safe and make you as comfortable as possible, as well as make special arrangements to address your situation.
