Our Tour Package Itinerary
Day 1: Sipping at a Wine Cellar After Arriving at the Country's Second Most Popular Destination
Our tour starts in Goreme, best reached via the airport in Kayseri or Nevşehir. This village is used as a base from which to explore Cappadocia’s cave dwellings. In the evening, we are taken to a wine house. There we do wine tasting for about 45 minutes.
Note that you are most likely to go through Istanbul before reaching Goreme.
Day 2: Floating From Heaven, Hiding in Caves & a Massage Like No Other
We go on an excursion today. The day starts with an early-morning, hot-air balloon ride over the cave dwellings of Cappadocia. The tour takes about an hour. Following this is a tour of the area: the surreal-looking rock formations of Pasabagi (a.k.a. Monks’ Valley), Devrent (a.k.a. Camel Rock), a pottery workshop in the small town of Avanos, the Goreme Open Air Museum, Love Valley and Uchisar Castle. The day ends with a traditional Turkish bathhouse (a.k.a. hammam). There we are bathed and massaged and sip on tea.
Note that children under 7 years old are not allowed onto the hot air balloon.
Day 3: A Folkloric Night Show, a Rock-Cut Monastery & an Underground City
We go on another excursion today. The destinations for today are a viewpoint called Esentepe, the underground city of Derinkuyu, Selime Monastery, a viewpoint overlooking Ihlara Valley, a hike inside Ihlara Valley, Pigeon Valley and a gemstone (a.k.a. onyx) workshop. In the evening, we go to a night show. There we listen to traditional music while watching locals wearing folkloric attire do a great deal of choreography.
Day 4: An Unforgettable Cooking Class & a Castle Which Lasts Forever
We relocate from Goreme to Kusadasi via a flight through Izmir. We are provided with a guided tour in Kusadasi, covering sites like the city walls and castle. We also have time to go swimming. In the evening, we are taken to a native Turk’s home. There we watch how traditional food is prepared as well as have dinner. The combination of tasty cuisine, rich culture and good company creates an unforgettable experience.
Day 5: Today Mother Mary Speaks to Me
Still based in Kusadası, it’s almost time to visit the world-renowned archaeological site that is Ephesus. First, however, we head to a Catholic shrine named the House of Virgin Mary. It is believed that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken to this stone house by Saint John and lived there for the remainder of her earthly life. Moving onto Ephesus, it is one of the largest Roman archaeological sites in the eastern Mediterranean. The visible ruins still give some idea of the city’s original splendor and the names associated with the ruins are evocative of its former life.
Next is a Greek temple dedicated to an ancient and local form of the goddess Artemis. This temple was completely rebuilt twice, once after a devastating flood and three hundred years later after an act of arson. In Artemis Temple’s final form, it was considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Next is a visit to the ruined Basilica of Saint John. It stands over the believed burial site of John the Apostle. Lastly is Isa Bey Mosque. It is one of the oldest and most impressive works of architectural art in the region.
Day 6: Instagrammers' Favorite Photo Spot in Turkey
We relocate by land from Kusadasi to the village of Pamukkale. There we first have a guided tour of the ancient Greek city of Hierapolis. Next is a visit to nearby Pamukkale, a natural site which shares the same name as the village. Pamukkale consists of hot springs and travertine limestone. It is one of the country’s most photographed locations. Lastly, we go swimming in nearby natural pools called Cleopatra Pools. People have bathed in these pools for thousands of years.
Day 7: Romantic Restaurants, Lively Music, Modern Ports & Hotspots Not-to-Miss
Before relocating by land from Pamukkale to the town of Bodrum, we go on a hot-air balloon ride over Pamukkale. Once in Bodrum, we purchase lunch next to the beach. There we see a whole line of restaurants and people swimming. After our meal, we are provided with a guided tour around town. Specifically, we are shown the castle, the Theatre of Halicarnassus and the bazaar. In the early evening, we are taken to a small port called Gumusluk. There we can purchase dinner and are otherwise provided with a guided tour of the port. See just how decorative the restaurants are. Gumusluk is a very unique and even romantic place.
After Gumusluk, we are taken to a harbor called Turkbuku. There we stroll the waterfront, with its restaurants and bars playing traditional Turkish music. We are then taken to an ultra-modern port called Yalikavak. There we are provided with a guided tour. Yalikavak is a popular place where the jet-set crowd goes. The bars there are quite fashionable. The night ends on a party street called “Gumbet Barlar Sokagi.”
Note that November through March, Bodrum and the south of Turkey are replaced with privately guided tours in Istanbul. Bodrum and Fethiye are seasonal destinations. In the wintertime, before flying from Dalaman to Istanbul, we drive to the village of Dalyan. There we take a river cruise, passing by the mountain-carved Lycian tombs followed by heading to a therapeutic mud pool.
Day 8: A River Cruise, a Therapeutic Mud Bath & Tombs Carved into the Mountainside
Although we are relocating from Bodrum to the beach town of Oludeniz, many important stops are made en route. Firstly, we are taken to the vibrant marina in the resort town of Marmaris. Next, we are taken to the village of Dalyan. There we take a river cruise, passing by the mountain-carved Lycian tombs followed by heading to a therapeutic mud pool. After bathing in the mud clay, we visit the Tomb of Amyntas. Like the Lycian tombs in Dalyan, Amyntas is carved into the mountainside. Next is the resort town of Fethiye. There we are provided with a guided tour of the old town before heading to nearby Oludeniz.
Note that November through March, Bodrum and the south of Turkey are replaced with privately guided tours in Istanbul. Below are the names of the attractions we typically show you today.
1. Suleymaniye Mosque
2. Spice Bazaar
3. Full Bosphorus Straight Boat Tour
4. Ortaköy Mosque
5. Rumeli Fortress
6. Pierre Loti Hill: Reached by cable car, this viewpoint offers a spectacular panoramic view of Istanbul’s seven hills.
7. Taksim Square
Day 9: A Postcard-Perfect Lagoon, Waterfalls, a Crystal Coastline & Trendy Bars
Before checking out of our hotel, we can swim in the turquoise waters of Oludeniz. We are then taken to a viewpoint overlooking the postcard-perfect Oludeniz Lagoon. Oludeniz has a sandy bay, on a blue lagoon. Next, we are taken to Kaputas Beach, which just may be Turkey’s prettiest.
After swimming at Kaputas, we are taken to the resort town of Kemer. There we are provided with a guided tour around the port area. Kemer is popular for its lounges and especially its huge nightclubs. After Kemer, we are taken to the upper portion of Duden Waterfall followed by the lower portion. Both offer great views. Before heading to our hotel in the city of Antalya, we pass by a shoreline area called “Eski Lara Yolu Moon Lara.” There we see high-end restaurants and bars.
Not included in the tour but highly popular nonetheless is paragliding over Oludeniz Lagoon. It is done from Mount Babadag, which is a 1-hour drive away from the lagoon. If you are interested in paragliding, please let us know. It would be done in the morning before taking the boat tour. You would be picked up from your hotel a bit earlier today, at 8:00am instead.
Note that November through March, Bodrum and the south of Turkey are replaced with privately guided tours in Istanbul. Below are the names of the attractions we typically show you today.
1. Sultanahmet Square
2. Blue Mosque (a.k.a. Sultan Ahmed Mosque)
3. Hagia Sophia Museum
4. Basilica Cistern
5. Topkapi Palace Museum
6. Grand Bazar
Day 10: What the Greco-Romans Left on This Great Nation
Today we make a daytrip from Antalya. Firstly, we are taken to an archaeological theater called Aspendos. Next, we are taken to the coastal village of Side. There we are provided with a guided tour of the village itself followed by a guided tour of its archaeological theater. Next, we are taken to an archaeological site and ancient city called Perge. Once back in Antalya, we are provided with a guided tour of the old town. It is best seen in the evening.
Day 11: Our Tour Ends This Morning
Transportation will be arranged for you to reach the airport in Antalya.
On a different note, November through March Istanbul is already included in our itinerary. April through October, it is not. We strongly recommend you spend as much time as possible exploring Istanbul, regardless whether through CharlieTheTraveler or independently. To see this ancient yet vibrant city well, you will need 8 full days. Nonetheless, because of people’s time constraints, most visitors stay in Istanbul for about 2-4 days.
Serving as the capital of both the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, boasting impressive architecture, home of one of the most enchanting harbors on Earth, world-renowned for being the urban center of where East meets West – both geographically and culturally – and otherwise, well known for preparing some of the tastiest and most exotic foods in all of the Mediterranean (not least the sweets), Istanbul (a.k.a. Constantinople) is a sightseeing destination that is on par with the likes of Paris and Rome. This city definitely has a European buzz to it, although pockets of Asian character are easily noticed throughout the city. Even though the majority of Istanbul’s key sites are found on the European side, you should visit the Asian side to see its handful of definitely worthwhile attractions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can We Customize This Tour?
We are open to customizing this tour to your liking, even though the itinerary we recommend is rock solid. As our tour is currently advertised, you absolutely will not find another one out there as packed with activities and attractions. What’s more, you will not find another tour out there that offers it all "FIRST CLASS," yet for a relatively low price. We have thousands of travelers taking this specific tour every year, and that's because no competitor can beat us on quality, price & substance.
Is Travel Insurance Required & Included?
All participants are required to book travel insurance within 72 hours of booking this tour. At a minimum, such insurance must cover cancellations, medical expenses, evacuations, flight loss or delays and 24/7 assistance.
How Much Does This Tour Cost & Is Financing Offered?
A 4-installment payment plan is available, often with 0 percent interest to those with at least decent credit. Ask us for details. Our luxury-oriented and itinerary-packed “Turkey in 11 Days” tour is available for $2,825 USD per person. This price includes all transportation, except flights. It also includes English-speaking tour guides, food, all activities and all entry fees. If you would like lodging included for all nights on this tour, then the combined (transportation, tour guides, food, activities, entry fees and lodging) total would be $3,968 USD per person. This price is based on 2 per room and is offered to those booking at least 6 weeks in advance. Note that there is a $30 USD fee if paying by bank transfer or a 4.6 percent surcharge for payments made by credit card. We accept both forms of payment. We do not accept checks. Moving forward, to better understand your specific circumstances and wishes, and for us to accurately quote you, please tell us:
1. How many persons in your party-including yourself-would be joining this tour?
2. What is your age and the age of your travel companion(s), if applicable? Travel insurance is required for this tour and we cannot quote you without knowing your age.
3. Would you be sharing the room with others in your group (e.g. a spouse, relative or friend) or do you want the room exclusive to you?
4. Where would you be flying from (and back to)?
5. On what date would you like to leave home?
6. Would you like to extend the duration of this tour so you have some free days just to relax? If visiting sometime between April and October and if you have 1 extra day, then we recommend Bodrum. If you have 2, then we recommend 1 in Bodrum and 1 in Oludeniz. If you have 3, then we recommend 1 in Bodrum, 1 in Oludeniz and 1 in Antalya. If visiting sometime between November and March and if you have 1 extra day, then we recommend Istanbul. If you have 2, then we recommend 1 in Istanbul and 1 in Goreme.
7. Do you have a preference between male and female tour guides?
8. Not least, would you-and the others in your party if applicable-like to paraglide over Oludeniz Lagoon? Note that this specific activity is optional and is not included in the standard price. We can add it on Day 9. Note this activity is available only April through October.
9. On a final note, it takes a good 8 full days to see all the worthwhile attractions in Istanbul, but of course, few people have that sort of time. If you would like to extend this 10-day tour specifically so our tour guides could take you to some of Istanbul’s famous attractions, then for how many days would you like to have a private tour guide?
What’s Excluded in the Price?
Any airfare, alcohol, travel insurance, any government-imposed visa fees and anything not mentioned in the itinerary
Although airfare is not included in the price, we will find you the exact flights you need. Just ask.
Are Domestic Flights Needed for This Tour?
Below are the domestic flights needed for this tour:
Day 1: Istanbul to Kayseri or Nevsehir (Cappadocia)
Day 4: Kayseri or Nevsehir to Izmir
Day 7: Dalaman to Istanbul *only in the wintertime
After booking our tour package, we would send you screenshots of what you need to purchase (airlines, flight number and date) and you would then book directly with the carrier. Never book airfare through a third party and always ensure your airfare type allows for changes or cancellation without penality. Does CharlieTheTraveler book airfare on customers' behalf? Although we recommend you do so directly to save money, yes we do offer this service, after the initial booking is made.

Am I Sharing the Room with Someone?
Your room is exclusive to you and whomever is in your party. Strangers (meaning customers who book on the same start date but do not know each other) do not share rooms on this tour. On a side note, please let us know if you and the other person(s) in your booking want separate rooms.
What is the Age Range & Nationality of the People Who Book This Tour?
Although we get customers of all ages and from several countries, our statistics show most people who book are 30 to 65 years old and from USA, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Are Kids Allowed on This Tour & Are They Charged the Same as Adults?
We welcome your kids specifically and only when the tour is exclusive to you and your group-meaning other customers are not joining you. We define kids as anyone under 18 years old. In order to make the tour exclusive to you and your group, your booking would need to be for 4 persons or more for any of our tours except Iceland. For our Iceland tour, your booking would need to be for 8 persons or more. Regarding the cost of bringing a non-adult, we do deduct from the total based on the amount of activities you request we remove from the tour. Note that reducing the total price of the tour by removing activities is something offered for non-adults only. Adults can opt out of activities but the total price does not change.
How Strong Do I Need to Be For This Trip?
We do not expect you to be an Olympic champion. We know some of the tour members are more fit than others…and we are well prepared for this. However, we do hope you take into consideration this is a very active tour, just like every other tour we offer.
Are Disabled People Allowed on This Tour?
Please let us know about any disability you have. Some disabilities would not affect you taking this tour. Others would prevent you from joining altogether. Although we want all of our customers to have fun, your safety is our first priority.
Do I Get Any Free Time to Myself?
Of course. Once each day’s tour is over, you have the rest of the evening to yourself. Because our tours tend to be very active, our customers typically want to simply relax once the sun sets.
What Happens If I Arrive Late?
Notify us as soon as possible and we will do our very best to arrange a meeting point. Please note that we do not refund for any days or activities that you miss.
Can I Opt-Out of Certain Activities?
Generally speaking, you can opt out as long as we are given adequate notice. Please note that opting out of certain activities does not reduce the price of this tour.
What Happens If I Get Injured on This Trip & Cannot Continue?
We would do our best to keep you safe and make you as comfortable as possible, as well as make special arrangements to address your situation. Partial refunds are not offered if you cannot continue with the tour. However, most travel insurances reimburse you for such situations. This is one of many reasons why we require our customers to purchase travel insurance before taking this tour.
What Happens If I Cancel This Trip?
To confirm your tour, full payment is needed at the time of your purchase. However, refunds are offered. You will receive a full refund if canceling at least 91 days in advance from the departure date. Cancelling between 90-60 days prior to departure entitles you to a 50 percent refund. Cancelling between 59-31 days prior to departure entitles you to a 25 percent refund. Canceling 30 days or less prior to departure is not eligible for a refund. Cancellation requests need to be made by email and become effective on the date received by CharlieTheTraveler.
What Happens If You, CharlieTheTraveler, Cancel This Trip?
In the unlikely event CharlieTheTraveler needs to cancel this trip, such as because of very poor weather conditions, we will give you a full refund for the tour within 14 business days of the cancellation. Note: We are not a participant in the California Travel Consumer Restitution Fund, nor is this transaction covered by the Restitution Fund.
How Do You Help Prepare Us For This Trip?
You should receive an email from us within 24 hours of purchasing this tour as well as a week before departure. The first email gives details about what to bring, how to prepare yourself, etc. The second email is more like a timetable combined with important contact information.
Is There Anything Out of the Ordinary I Should Bring on This Trip?
Bring a strap for your sunglasses, to wrap around your head while on the hot-air balloon. Also, bring a mobile hand/wrist strap, to prevent it from falling while in the air. Also, if visiting between April and October, bring (A) a lockable waterproof backpack (to bring onto the boat), (B) a waterproof case for your identification card and credit cards (when swimming) and (C) water shoes. On a different note, you may need to bring adapters for your electronic devices.
Are the Tour Guides Licensed & Will They Be With Me the Entire Time?
Our tour guides/drivers are licensed, speak English and know how to bring excitement to your day. What we deliver is the complete opposite of the cookie-cutting tours the big corporations offer, leaving you in complete boredom. Although our tour guides/drivers are attentive, accommodating and engaged, they also know when to give you your private space and free time. It's a perfect balance.
In Which Language(s) is This Tour Offered?
All of our tours are offered in English. If you prefer another language, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Do We Need to Get Our Own Transportation to and From the Airport?
Absolutely not. We make the arrangements for you.
