      Our Tour Package Itinerary

You are scheduled to arrive in the town of Chania. After collecting your luggage, proceed to the main exit. There you will find your escort driving holding a sign with your name on it. You will be escorted from today until the very end of your trip in Greece. On Crete Island, where Chania is located. You are to be taken via a 30-minute drive to your hotel. It is called.

Upon arrival, check in, leave your luggage in your room and return to the lobby as quickly as possible. Your escort driver should be there ready for you. You are to be taken via a 5-minute walk to the old town. There you are to be provided with a guided tour. You are to visit the Kioutsouk Mosque, the old port fountain and classic looking shopping streets such as Skridloff street. You should be back at your hotel around 3 hours after the airport arrival time pm. You have the rest of the day or evening to yourself.

As a daytrip from Chania, we head to two of the island’s most beautiful beaches. Firstly, we drive to Elafonisi. When the weather is fine, it is possible to walk from the mainland to this island through shallow water. Next, we are taken to a village called Kalyviani. There we can purchase lunch. After our meal, we make our way to a beach known for its rock formation, clear water and white sands, Balos. After swimming there, we return to Chania and explore this charming town further.

Before relocating by land from Chania to the port town of Heraklion, we further explore the sites in Chania. En route to Heraklion, we visit Rethymnon. This charming port town still maintains its old aristocratic appearance, with its buildings dating from the 16th century, arched doorways, stone staircases, Byzantine and Hellenic Roman remains, a small Venetian harbor and narrow streets. After checking into the hotel in Heraklion, we are taken to a local’s home. There we are taught how to make some local dishes as well as have dinner. Dinner is included on today’s tour.

We relocate by boat from Heraklion to the island of Santorini. Today we explore around the island. Cycladic in style yet complimented by some neoclassical elements, Santorini is every photographer’s fantasy. With its villages perched several hundreds of feet above water, adding to this volcanic island’s allure is a stunning and world renowned-sunset, best viewed from Oia. Now throw into the mix locally produced and internationally acclaimed wines, archeological remains and beaches with sand or pebbles made of solidified lava of various colors (e.g. Red Beach). Suddenly you have what is one of the most romanticized-and unsurprisingly visited islands in all the Mediterranean.

Today we explore Santorini’s historic towns of Thira and Oia. Whitewashed and pastel-colored cubic buildings and blue-domed churches seemingly pile onto one another, clinging onto the cliff-side caves of a caldera to form a dramatic landscape and striking views in what is one of the most unique destinations on earth. One can wander through a labyrinth of narrow and stone-paved alleyways filled with seasonally vibrant taverns and cafes as well as boutique shops and hotels. In these very same alleyways, some hours after our guided tour has finished, you can also find some pretty vibrant nightlife.

Today we relocate by flight from Santorini Island to Milos Island. After arrival, we begin exploring the island. The first destination is the village of Klima. There we see cute homes built right along the coastline. Next, we are taken to a catacombs archeological site. The guided tour there takes around 15 minutes. After this tour, we go by foot to the nearby ancient amphitheater followed by foot to the nearby church overlooking the town. Next, we are taken to a beach called Firopotamos. We have a look at Firopotamos but do not go swimming just yet. Next, we are taken to a beach called Mantrakia. We can purchase lunch here.

After our meal, we are taken to a beach called Papafragas. There we have a great viewpoint of the coastline. Next, we are taken to a beach called Alogomandra. There we go swimming for about 15 minutes. Next, we are taken to a beach called Sarakiniko. This is the greatest beach of them all in Milos. We spend a couple of hours swimming here. After Sarakiniko, we are taken to the village of Plaka. There we hike to a viewpoint overlooking the village. It is from this viewpoint we can also watch the sunset.

Today we explore Milos Island further. The beaches in Milos are among Greece’s most beautiful, with their distinct rock formations. Less visited than the world-renowned islands of Santorini and Mykonos, Milos is no less stunning in terms of its natural attractions and old town.

Firstly, we head to a beach called Paliochori. There we start a boat ride along the southern coastline. Highlights include the beaches at Agia Kiriaki, Tsigrado, Firiplaka, Provatas, Kleftiko and Sikia. Upon returning to
Paliochori, we go to a beach called Thiorichia. There we have breathtaking views of the coastline.

Today we relocate by boat from Milos Island to Mykonos Island and explore. Now famed for seasonally hosting some of the best beach parties and nightlife in all the Mediterranean as well as featuring an exciting fashion scene combined with stylish bars, restaurants and shops, what initially put Mykonos under the international
spotlight is its clear and calm waters and quintessential Cycladic architecture. Although Mykonos is one of Greece’s chicest and most visited destinations, the island feels overcrowded only in July and August.

Check out and leave your luggage at reception. Be in the lobby with swimming attire, water shoes, and a towel. Your escort driver will guide you through the old town of Mykonos and more of the island before your flight to
      Zakynthos.

Start with a short drive to “Little Venice,” known for its shoreline restaurants. If you’ve already visited, inform your escort to skip this stop. Next, take a 15-minute walk to the windmills for photos while your driver collects
      your luggage.

Continue with a drive to Ftelia Beach, where we recommend having lunch at Alemagkou. Afterward, visit Panormos Beach for a quick photo stop, then head to Agios Sostis and Lover’s Beach for swimming.

Finally, drive to the airport for your flight to Zakynthos, with a stopover in Athens. The evening is yours to enjoy.

Next, you are to be taken via a 10-minute drive to a beach called Porto Limnionas. There you see rock formations and crystal-clear waters. You have around 1 hour there for swimming.

Nothing to disappoint. Still loving our trip. Leave today!! Thank you. We have had an epic adventure. Salvatore has been more than awesome. Not one problem. The Sicilian family was so wonderful. We love them already. We were supposed to end dinner around 9:00. At 11:30 we realized we had lost all track of time and excused our selves. Paolo shared his homemade wine with us…red and white. Marcela taught me to make eggplant Parmesan and it was off the hook. I will recommend you to all future traveling friends. Thanks again… The details are everything!!!

Santorini never disappoints but my partners Charles Takis Stathoulis with Charlie The Traveler, Chris Tsarouhidis at Elegant Santorini Tours, and our fabulous guide Ismini Filip made our private tour perfect starting with a Donkey Ride up to Fira, a stop at Oia, fabulous wine tasting at Venetsanos Winery overlooking the caldera and a delicious dinner at To Psaraki before watching the gorgeous sunset.

My friend had gone to visit the Greek Islands a few years ago and I have been thinking about taking that trip since then. Thankfully, I found CharlieTheTraveler offered a trip to Greece. I was interested in booking because I read great reviews on their other tours. I’m glad I did, because I was able to relax instead of trying to plan my own itinerary.

I chose to go through CharlieTheTraveler due to their highly rated trips. The tour guide they provided was excellent and knowledgeable and I learned so much about the history and culture.

CharlieTheTraveler could not have made booking this trip to the Greek Islands easier. I booked my trip, booked my flight, and they did the rest. I traveled with my brother, so we were provided transportation to and from the airport. All other transportation throughout the 11-day span was provided and all tours were included. It was the best vacation I have ever been on.

What I liked best about CharlieTheTraveler is that as soon as I booked my Greece trip through them, I felt like a priority. I was given all information I needed for my trip ahead of time. While at the destination, I never felt left out or like a second thought. Since it was such a small group, the tour guide got to know me and even by the third day, he got to know what I like and what I was most interested in.

I planned my honeymoon for the Greek Islands. The trip through CharlieTheTraveler was perfect for this type of vacation. We were brought to the most romantic spots and I was able to enjoy dinner with my new spouse based on recommendations by our tour guide. I also appreciated the tour guide giving us our space during these moments.

CharlieTheTraveler had so many positive reviews online that I could not pass up booking a trip through them. I saw the itinerary of the Greek Islands and Mainland was packed with activities and daytrips. I booked the trip, which was very easy, and barely had to do anything in order to prepare for the 11-day trip. I was recommended what to bring and I knew exactly what activities that I was going to be doing, so packing for the trip was the easiest it ever has been.

I tend to go on an island vacation and do the same thing every day—go to the beach. I wanted to go on a trip that was new and exciting. I felt safe to book through CharlieTheTraveler as they had 5-star reviews and nobody had anything bad to say. The trip did not disappoint as I visited and explored more than I ever have on vacation and loved every minute of it.

Greece is known for the history and culture, but I never imagined it to be so beautiful. The islands highlighted the beauty of all the landscapes, including cliffs and volcanos. The mainland seemed to focus more on the culture and history. I appreciated being brought to both the islands and the mainland to experience it all.

The company filled the tour with so many activities. Each daytrip had multiple sites and attractions to visit. I enjoyed experiencing everything, but one thing I appreciated the most was not being rushed. The timing worked out for each site and we never stayed too long or too short at any one site.

      Frequently Asked Questions

      Can We Customize This Tour?

We are open to customizing this tour to your liking, even though the itinerary we recommend is rock solid. As our tour is currently advertised, you absolutely will not find another one out there as packed with activities and attractions. What’s more, you will not find another tour out there that offers it all "FIRST CLASS," yet for a relatively low price. We have thousands of travelers taking this specific tour every year, and that's because no competitor can beat us on quality, price & substance.

Is Travel Insurance Required & Included?

All participants are required to book travel insurance within 72 hours of booking this tour. At a minimum, such insurance must cover cancellations, medical expenses, evacuations, flight loss or delays and 24/7 assistance.

How Much Does This Tour Cost & Is Financing Offered?

A 4-installment payment plan is available, often with 0 percent interest to those with at least decent credit. Ask us for details. Our luxury-oriented and itinerary-packed “Greece: See & Do the Classical Route in 11 Days” tour is available for $4,439 USD per person. This price includes all transportation, except airfare. It also includes an English-speaking escort driver, food, all activities mentioned in the standard itinerary and all entry fees. If you would like lodging included for all nights on this tour, then the combined (transportation, escort driver, food, activities, entry fees and lodging) total would be $5,814 USD per person. This price is based on 2 per room and is offered to those booking at least 6 weeks in advance. Note that there is a $30 USD fee if paying by bank transfer or a 4.6 percent surcharge for payments made by credit card. We accept both forms of payment. We do not accept checks. Moving forward, to better understand your specific circumstances and wishes, and for us to accurately quote you, please tell us:

      1. Do you prefer getting domestic airfare through us or directly with the airlines? You have both options. Either way, we tell you the exact flight you would need for this tour. Note there is a $100 USD ‘booking fee’ which guarantees not only booking airfare but also that a CharlieTheTraveler representative would be on the phone and/or using live chat with the airlines should there need to be a possible change to your flight.

      2. Also, would you like to extend the duration of this tour so you have some free days just to relax? If you have 1 extra day, then we recommend Mykonos Island. If you have 2, then we recommend 1 on Mykonos Island and 1 in Chania, Crete Island.

      3. Not least, if you really want not to miss all the highlights Greece has to offer and if you have extra time, then we recommend you consider Rhodes Island (2 days), Paros Island (2 days), a natural site called Meteora (2 days), a village called Monemvasia (1 day), a daytrip from Monemvasia to the Mani Peninsula, Nafplio (half-day), Zakynthos Island (2 days), Lefkada Island (2 days), Corfu Island (2 days), a daytrip from Corfu Town to the islands of Paxi and Antipaxos, the city of Thessaloniki (2 days) and a daytrip from Thessaloniki to the on-the-water monasteries at Mount Athos. Would you like to add any of these destinations and if so, then which ones?

      4. Lastly, many of our customers combine our Greece tour with our Turkey tour. You can find our Turkey tour here: charliethetraveler.com/our-multiday-tours/Turkey Would you like to combine Greece and Turkey into one trip?

      What’s Excluded in the Price?

There is a hotel sales tax which guests are required to pay directly. Unfortunately, the Greek government does not permit anyone except for the guests themselves to pay this. Also excluded...

Any airfare, alcohol, travel insurance, any government-imposed visa fees, tour guides and anything not mentioned in the itinerary

Although airfare is not included in the price, we will find you the exact flights you need. Just ask.

Regarding tour guides in Greece, we are replacing them with escort drivers. Why? Tour guides are not allowed to drive tourists. At the same time, escort drivers are not allowed to enter any attractions with you. Why? It is simply Greek government bureaucracy. Information about these attractions is to be provided to you before entering them.

Are Domestic Flights Needed for This Tour?

Below are the domestic flights needed for this tour:

Day 6: Santorini Island to Milos Island

Day 9: Mykonos Island to Zakynthos

Day 14: Lefkada Island to Corfu Island

      Day 20: Thessaloniki to Rhodes

Day 22: Rhodes Town to Athens

After booking our tour package, we would send you screenshots of what you need to purchase (airlines, flight number and date) and you would then book directly with the carrier. You should almost never book airfare through a third party. The exception is when booking specifically international business class airfare from the United States. Sometimes this specific scenario provides a significant saving for the customer. Does CharlieTheTraveler book airfare on customers' behalf? Yes, both international and domestic. Ask us for details.

Note that CharlieTheTraveler cannot guarantee the airfare type it quotes you will be fully refundable. This is one of the reasons why we require customers to have travel insurance. Some airlines offer fully refundable airfare with a relatively low upcharge while others offer strictly non-refundable. Equally unsurprising, some airlines offer fully refundable airfare but with significant upcharges. If you are seeking airfare which guarantees cancellation without penalty, then please state this in writing when asking CharlieTheTraveler to book on your behalf.

Although we get customers of all ages and from several countries, our statistics show most people who book are 30 to 65 years old and from USA, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Are Kids Allowed on This Tour & Are They Charged the Same as Adults?

We welcome your kids specifically and only when the tour is exclusive to you and your group-meaning other customers are not joining you. We define kids as anyone under 18 years old. For our Iceland tour, your booking would need to be for 8 persons or more. Regarding the cost of bringing a non-adult, we do deduct from the total based on the amount of activities you request we remove from the tour. Note that reducing the total price of the tour by removing activities is something offered for non-adults only. Adults can opt out of activities but the total price does not change.

How Strong Do I Need to Be For This Trip?

We do not expect you to be an Olympic champion. We know some of the tour members are more fit than others…and we are well prepared for this. However, we do hope you take into consideration this is a very active tour, just like every other tour we offer.

Are Disabled People Allowed on This Tour?

Please let us know about any disability you have. Some disabilities would not affect you taking this tour. Others would prevent you from joining altogether. Although we want all of our customers to have fun, your safety is our first priority.

Do I Get Any Free Time to Myself?

Of course. Once each day’s tour is over, you have the rest of the evening to yourself. Because our tours tend to be very active, our customers typically want to simply relax once the sun sets.

What Happens If I Arrive Late?

Notify us as soon as possible and we will do our very best to arrange a meeting point. Please note that we do not refund for any days or activities that you miss.

Can I Opt-Out of Certain Activities?

Generally speaking, you can opt out as long as we are given adequate notice. Please note that opting out of certain activities does not reduce the price of this tour.

What Happens If I Get Injured on This Trip & Cannot Continue?

We would do our best to keep you safe and make you as comfortable as possible, as well as make special arrangements to address your situation. Partial refunds are not offered if you cannot continue with the tour. However, most travel insurances reimburse you for such situations. This is one of many reasons why we require our customers to purchase travel insurance before taking this tour.

What Happens If I Cancel This Trip?

To confirm your tour, full payment is needed at the time of your purchase. However, refunds are offered. You will receive a full refund if canceling at least 91 days in advance from the departure date. Cancelling between 90-60 days prior to departure entitles you to a 50 percent refund. Cancelling between 59-31 days prior to departure entitles you to a 25 percent refund. Canceling 30 days or less prior to departure is not eligible for a refund. Cancellation requests need to be made by email and become effective on the date received by CharlieTheTraveler.

What Happens If You, CharlieTheTraveler, Cancel This Trip?

In the unlikely event CharlieTheTraveler needs to cancel this trip, such as because of very poor weather conditions, we will give you a full refund for the tour within 14 business days of the cancellation.

How Do You Help Prepare Us For This Trip?

You should receive an email from us within 24 hours of purchasing this tour as well as a week before departure. The first email gives details about what to bring, how to prepare yourself, etc. The second email gives details mostly about the hotels.

Is There Anything Out of the Ordinary I Should Bring on This Trip?

Are the Tour Guides Licensed & Will They Be With Me the Entire Time?

Our tour guides/drivers are licensed, speak English and know how to bring excitement to your day. What we deliver is the complete opposite of the cookie-cutting tours the big corporations offer, leaving you in complete boredom.
