TURKEY IN 11 DAYS
Day 1
Our group tour starts in Istanbul (a.k.a. Constantinople). Tour members would be arriving at different times. Some may be jet lagged while others, not. Those who arrive early enough and have some energy and an appetite could join us on our food tour.
Days 2-3
Let’s explore the landmarks and streets of Istanbul.
Serving as the capital of both the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, boasting impressive architecture, home of one of the most enchanting harbors on earth, world-renowned for Read morebeing the urban center of where East meets West – both geographically and culturally – and otherwise, well known for preparing some of the tastiest and most exotic foods in all of the Mediterranean (not least the sweets), Istanbul is a sightseeing destination that is on par with the likes of Paris and Rome. This city definitely has a European buzz to it, although pockets of Asian character are easily noticed throughout the city. Even though the majority of Istanbul’s key sites are found on the European side, we would also be visiting the Asian side to see its handful of definitely worthwhile attractions.
Days 4-5
Let’s fly from Istanbul to Goreme, a base from which to visit Cappadocia’s cave dwellings. Attractions and activities you should expect include wine-tasting, horseback riding and most importantly, an early-morning hot-air balloon ride over the cave dwellings.
Day 6
Let’s fly from Goreme to Izmir and take a 1.5-hour bus ride to Selcuk, a base from which to visit Ephesus. We wouldn’t have enough time to see Ephesus on the same day. After checking into our hotel in Selcuk, let’s take a 30-minute bus ride to Kuşadası. This beach town is nice for walking around and otherwise offers some beaches where we could go swimming.
Day 7
Let’s make a daytrip via a 2.5-hour bus ride to Pamukkale, a natural site consisting of hot springs and travertine limestone. Tourism is Read moreand has been a major industry in the area. People have bathed in the pools for thousands of years. Bring your swimming attire!
Day 8
Still based in Selcuk, it’s time to visit the world-renowned archeological site of Ephesus. Ephesus is one of the largest Roman archaeological sites in Read morethe eastern Mediterranean. The visible ruins still give some idea of the city’s original splendor and the names associated with the ruins are evocative of its former life.
Day 9
Let’s take a 2.5-hour bus ride from Selcuk to Bodrum, a town best used specifically as a starting off point to cruise along the Turkish Riviera, all the way until Fethiye. We should be roaming the small streets of Bodrum in the daytime and partying once the sun sets. Bodrum is seasonally popular for its nightlife scene.
Day 10
Let’s take a boat from Bodrum to Fethiye, home of the gorgeous Oludeniz lagoon. Boat durations between Bodrum to Fethiye vary but usually do not take more than 4 hours. We should be staying in Fethiye just for the one day arriving from Bodrum specifically to enjoy the lagoon.
Day 11
Fethiye is the final destination on our group tour of Turkey. If you have the time, then I strongly recommend Read moretaking a 1.5-hour boat ride from Fethiye to the island of Rhodes, Greece. If you need to return home, then you can take a 1-hour bus ride to Dalaman. This small town has an international airport.

What Kind of Food Should I Expect on This Trip?
Disregard the beautiful architecture. Disregard the breathtaking landscape. Disregard the outdoor activities. Disregard the fun people and the nightlife. The very diverse cuisine alone is enough reason to visit Turkey and join our group tour. Food is a fundamental component to Turkish culture. In my honest opinion, Turkish cuisine is the best on earth. It ranks number one from all the countries I have ever been to.
Turkey learned all the best recipes from the vast territories it occupied for hundreds of years and created its own incredibly diverse national cuisine. Personal favorites include: menemen (an egg dish), kofta (meatballs), kuzu tandir (a lamb dish), lahmacun (baked dough topped with minced meat and veggies), borek (a type of pastry), su boregi (another pastry), baklava (another pastry), pide (Turkish pizza), Gullac (a dessert), lokum (candy), kayisi tatlisi (apricot stuffed with cream and nuts), baklali enginar (artichokes), imam bayildı (stuffed eggplant), kunefe (dessert) and Turkish coffee.
At What Specific Hotels Would We Be Staying?
We wouldn’t choose places we would not have our own mothers stay at. We realize that staying at a substandard establishment can really damage the overall experience-and we make sure to avoid this at all costs. The establishments we choose all have air conditioning and private bathrooms and are as safe and clean as can be. Typically, we choose 4-star establishments. Why can’t we tell you the names of the establishments now? Our options may change based on the size of our group. It isn’t until we have the final count of tour members for this trip could we finalize all accommodation bookings. Once all finalized, we would let you know promptly via email.
Am I Sharing the Room with Someone?
Prices are based on two persons per room. If you wish to stay in the room with another tour member (such as a family member or friend), then you and this person both need to make a request by emailing us and letting us know. If you need to have your own room, then please let us know and email us as soon as possible. Note that we cannot guarantee these hotels would have vacancy. Also note there is an additional fee for a private room.
What is the Size of the Group & Where is Everyone From?
Although we welcome people from all around the world, our customers reside mostly in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, USA or Canada. As for the size of the group, usually it is between 12 and 25 persons.
Are Kids Allowed on This Tour?
You must be at least 18 years old to join our tour.
Do I Get Any Free Time Away From the Group?
Of course. For the most part, you can wonder off as long as you are back on the boat/bus by the agreed upon time. You also have a lot of free time typically after 6:00pm.
What Happens If I Arrive Late?
Notify us as soon as possible and we will do our very best to arrange a meeting point. Please note that we do not refund for any days or activities that you miss.
Can I Opt-Out of Certain Activities?
Generally speaking, you can opt-out, as long as we are given adequate notice.
How Strong Do I Need to Be For This Trip?
We do not expect you to be an Olympic champion. We know some of the tour members are more fit than others…and we are well prepared for this. If you have any kind of disability, please let us know as soon as possible.
What Happens If I Get Injured on This Trip & Cannot Continue?
We would do our best to keep you safe and make you as comfortable as possible, as well as make special arrangements to address your situation. We treat our members like ‘family members’, not just another head to count while doing the group tour.
