Day 1: Arriving into the Dominican Republic’s Showcase Resort
We start our trip to the Dominican Republic in Punta Cana. This is also where we are based for the entire duration of our tour. It is from here we make daily excursions, which are packed with culture and excitement. Today we pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel. Let's check out Bavaro. It is the most popular white-sand beach in the Punta Cana area.
Day 2: An Open Bar on & Catamaran Ride to Catalina Island as Well as Visiting a Mediterranean-Style Village
We are taken this morning to a dock near to La Romana. There we take the catamaran departure to Catalina Island. Lunch is included today, as is an open bar once on Catalina Island. The island offers a diverse preservation of ecosystems, including sand dunes, mangroves and reefs. Formed out of coral stone, the island contains three overlapping plateaus. The seas around the island are rich in wildlife, with many species of birds and tropical marine fish. Catalina Island is especially popular for snorkeling.
Once we have returned to the dock near to La Romana, we are taken to Altos de Chavon. At this recreated Mediterranean style village located atop the Chavon River, we are provided with a guided tour. Altos de Chavon hosts a cultural center, an archeological museum and an amphitheater.
Day 3: The Caribbean's Most Underrated City, Colonial Santo Domingo
Today we visit the oldest permanent European settlement of the New World, Santo Domingo. There we are provided with a guided tour. The colonial zone is an architectural gem that truly feels detached from the rest of the city. Think of attractive Spanish era squares, monuments and parks, shirtless men playing dominoes, good food, exciting music (not least bachata and meringue) and an amazing nightlife scene.
The Old Town (a.k.a. Zona Colonial) has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is an important section of the city due to the high number of landmarks, including the residence of Alcázar de Colón, Fortaleza Ozama Castle and Primada de America Cathedral. Although the Old Town deserves most of our time, the outer areas of Gazcue and the Malecon are worth exploring too. All in all, the capital of the Dominican Republic is arguably one of the region’s most underrated destinations.
Day 4: A Protected Virgin Forest, Riding Through Mangroves & Another Open Bar
Today we are taken to Los Haitises National Park. There we take a boat through mangroves as well as swim at the beautiful Punta Arena beach. Lunch is included today, as is an open bar. Los Haitises National Park is a protected virgin forest with little road access. The number of tourists allowed is limited, but since 2000, it has been a relatively popular destination for ecotourism. There is a multitude of caverns created by water erosion.
Day 5: Another Open Bar on the Country's Most Popular Yet "Deserted" Island
We take a morning catamaran or speedboat departure to Saona Island. Lunch and an open bar on the island are included today. Saona Island is a popular destination for tourists from all over the Dominican Republic, who arrive daily in fleets of catamarans and small motorboats. Saona is known for its beaches and has been used on a number of occasions by filmmakers and advertisers looking for a stereotypical "deserted island" setting for their film or product.
Day 6: Our Tour Ends This Morning
Transportation will be arranged for you to reach the airport in Punta Cana.
Note that if you have extra time, we can arrange a private tour for you to the beach of Playa Bahia de Las Aguilas. It is in the southwest area of the country. Also worth visiting is the Samaná Peninsula in the north, specifically the beaches of Playa Rincon, Playa Fronton and Playa Galeras as well as El Limón Waterfall. The reason why these worthwhile destinations are not included in our itinerary is because they are all difficult to reach. Again, however, can we make private arrangements for you upon request.
The Dominican Republic has a natural beauty that is admirable. However, I could never find the time to plan my trip. I found CharlieTheTraveler and I could not believe that they had the entire trip planned. The company highlighted nature throughout the entire trip.
I had always wanted to go to the Dominican Republic, but there is a negative stigma about traveling to foreign countries. I was nervous about going on my own and also nervous going with a group of strangers. However, I read the positive reviews about the other tours CharlieTheTraveler has organized and felt a lot better about booking my trip through them. Our tour guide did such a great job in making sure I always felt safe and comfortable while on the trip and with the other group members. The tours were so much fun and I appreciated that I was able to relax on this trip.
I hate planning for vacations because it takes time that I find could be used for other things. It also is stressful which is pointless to going on vacation. My plans usually fall through as well. This is why I chose CharlieTheTraveler for my Dominican Republic trip. Booking my already-planned vacation was easy and stress free. It was nice to be able to just go on vacation and enjoy it.
This trip to the Dominican Republic was fantastic! I could not believe how many activities CharlieTheTraveler not only planned, but included in the price. The low price initially made me think a few activities would be included and the rest would be up to us to pay separately, but I was pleasantly surprised to see the itinerary and see everything included.
This trip to the Dominican Republic was beyond what I could have ever planned for. For one, CharlieTheTraveler knows the area so well that they were able to include the best activities in the trip. The tour guide was also helpful in navigating while I was there. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a great group tour trip!
A beach trip is what I was looking for when I booked the Dominican Republic tour with CharlieTheTraveler. However, the company had so much more than beaches to visit. I had no idea the cultural and natural activities would be so fun!
Many trips I go on have too much downtime and a lot of time spent in the hotel figuring out what to do next. I didn’t want that, so when I read the reviews for CharlieTheTraveler, I knew this was the vacation I wanted. I was never bored and the daytrips were planned out so there was little downtime.
I enjoyed all accommodations included in this Dominican Republic trip by CharlieTheTraveler. I have never been on such an interactive sightseeing tour with everything that was included in this trip. I mostly enjoyed the breakfasts each morning to start my day out right before all of the activities planned.
There was no shortage of activities in this trip planned by CharlieTheTraveler. I had such a great time in the Dominican Republic. The accommodations were perfect and everything was planned meticulously.
I could not believe how simple it was to book my trip with CharlieTheTraveler. The Dominican Republic is an amazing mesh of cultural and natural sites and this company captured that perfectly for me. I felt the activities had variety and were all interesting.
The Dominican Republic has many interesting sites to tour, but I could never find time to plan a whole trip there. Thankfully I had found CharlieTheTraveler, where the trip to this Caribbean country was all planned for me. It was easy to book and I had the time of my life on this trip.
There were so many great activities packed into this 6-day trip to the Dominican Republic. I appreciated the group size was small and the tour guide was very personable which made every part of the trip, even the transportation to and from places, fun.
I wanted to take my spouse on an exciting trip for our anniversary. However, it seemed hard to plan every activity and excursion separately. I booked the Dominican Republic trip through CharlieTheTraveler and it was simple and easy. We had so much fun and it was definitely a trip perfect for us.
I had read positive reviews about CharlieTheTraveler’s trips, so I felt safe booking my Dominican Republic trip through them. The trip held up to all the reviews, as I had a great experience. The activities were fun and filled my day and our tour guide made me feel welcomed.
I don’t think there’s enough positive things to say about my experience with CharlieTheTraveler. I booked this Dominican Republic trip to take on my own. This trip was perfect for a single traveler. I never worried about being alone, as I traveled with the group at every site. Our tour guide’s knowledge of the area made me feel secure knowing that I was in good hands.
It was an easy choice to book a trip to the Dominican Republic through CharlieTheTraveler. They have plenty of positive reviews that made me feel confident that I would have a great trip. I was thankful that my trip was even better than I imagined!

CharlieTheTraveler amazed me with this trip. For everything that was included and for all the tours that I was going to take while in the Dominican Republic, the price of the trip was a great deal! I had no idea this trip could have been this amazing.
After reading so many positive reviews of CharlieTheTraveler, I had high expectations for my Dominican Republic vacation I booked through them. They ultimately met those expectations and even exceeded them on this trip. I was impressed by the activities and the organization of every daytrip we took.
I am pleased with CharlieTheTraveler. The company planned a great trip to the Dominican Republic that I took with my sister. I enjoyed all of the tours we went on and it was a much needed relaxing vacation thanks to the company’s well-planned trip.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Much Does This Tour Cost?
A 4-installment payment plan is available, often with 0 percent interest to those with at least decent credit. Ask us for details. Our luxury-oriented and itinerary-packed “Dominican Republic in 6 Days” tour is available for $1,291 USD per person. This price includes all transportation, except flights. It also includes English-speaking tour guides, food, all activities and all entry fees. If you would like lodging included for all nights on this tour, then the combined (transportation, tour guides, food, activities, entry fees and lodging) total would be $1,711 USD per person. This price is based on 2 per room and is offered to those booking at least 6 weeks in advance. Note that whereas there is no fee associated with paying by check, there is a 3.5 percent surcharge for payments made by credit card. We accept both forms of payment. Moving forward, to better understand your specific circumstances and wishes, and for us to accurately quote you, please tell us:
1. How many persons in your party-including yourself-would be joining this tour? Solo travelers are welcomed, in case you were wondering.
2. Would you be sharing the room with others in your group (e.g. a spouse, relative or friend) or do you want the room exclusive to you?
3. Where would you be flying from (and back to)?
4. On what date would you like to leave home?
5. Would you like to extend the duration of this tour so you have some free days just to relax? If so, then how many days would you like to add?
6. On a final note, if you have extra time, we can arrange a private tour for you to the beach of Playa Bahia de Las Aguilas. Would you like to extend this 6-day tour so you can see Playa Bahia de Las Aguilas and/or the Samaná Peninsula?
What’s Excluded in the Price?
Any airfare, alcohol, travel insurance, any government-imposed visa fees and anything not mentioned in the itinerary.
Although airfare is not included in the price, we will find you the exact flights you need. Just ask.
Are Domestic Flights Needed for This Tour?
At What Specific Hotels Would We Be Staying?
For this tour, you would be staying the whole time in Punta Cana. It is always from there you would make daily excursions. We most commonly have our customers stay at Occidental Caribe or El Embajador or Melia Caribe. Note this is subject to availability.
Is This a Private or Group Tour?
Although virtually all activities on this multi-day tour are shared with other travelers, we can at least make the land tours (exploring the city of Santo Domingo and the village of Altos de Chavon) completely private, per your request.
Am I Sharing the Room with Someone?
Your room is exclusive to you and whomever is in your party. Strangers (meaning customers who book on the same start date but do not know each other) do not share rooms on this tour. On a side note, please let us know if you and the other person(s) in your booking want separate rooms.
What is the Age Range & Nationality of the People Who Book This Tour?
Although we get customers of all ages and from several countries, our statistics show most people who book are 30 to 65 years old and from USA, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Are Kids Allowed on This Tour & Are They Charged the Same as Adults?
We welcome your kids specifically and only when the tour is exclusive to you and your group-meaning other customers are not joining you. We define kids as anyone under 18 years old. In order to make the tour exclusive to you and your group, your booking would need to be for 4 persons or more for any of our tours except Iceland. For our Iceland tour, your booking would need to be for 8 persons or more. Regarding the cost of bringing a non-adult, we do deduct from the total based on the amount of activities you request we remove from the tour. Note that reducing the total price of the tour by removing activities is something offered for non-adults only. Adults can opt out of activities but the total price does not change.
How Strong Do I Need to Be For This Trip?
We do not expect you to be an Olympic champion. We know some of the tour members are more fit than others…and we are well prepared for this. However, we do hope you take into consideration this is a very active tour, just like every other tour we offer.
Are Disabled People Allowed on This Tour?
Please let us know about any disability you have. Some disabilities would not affect you taking this tour. Others would prevent you from joining altogether. Although we want all of our customers to have fun, your safety is our first priority.
Do I Get Any Free Time to Myself?
Of course. Once each day’s tour is over, you have the rest of the evening to yourself. Because our tours tend to be very active, our customers typically want to simply relax once the sun sets.
What Happens If I Arrive Late?
Notify us as soon as possible and we will do our very best to arrange a meeting point. Please note that we do not refund for any days or activities that you miss.
Can I Opt-Out of Certain Activities?
Generally speaking, you can opt out as long as we are given adequate notice. Please note that opting out of certain activities does not reduce the price of this tour.
What Happens If I Get Injured on This Trip & Cannot Continue?
We would do our best to keep you safe and make you as comfortable as possible, as well as make special arrangements to address your situation. Partial refunds are not offered if you cannot continue with the tour. However, most travel insurances reimburse you for such situations. This is one of many reasons why we require our customers to purchase travel insurance before taking this tour.
What Happens If I Cancel This Trip?
To confirm your tour, full payment is needed at the time of your purchase. However, refunds are offered. You will receive a full refund if canceling at least 91 days in advance from the departure date. Cancelling between 90-60 days prior to departure entitles you to a 50 percent refund. Cancelling between 59-31 days prior to departure entitles you to a 25 percent refund. Canceling 30 days or less prior to departure is not eligible for a refund. Cancellation requests need to be made by email and become effective on the date received by CharlieTheTraveler.
What Happens If You, CharlieTheTraveler, Cancel This Trip?
In the unlikely event CharlieTheTraveler needs to cancel this trip, such as because of very poor weather conditions, we will give you a full refund for the tour within 14 business days of the cancellation. Note: We are not a participant in the California Travel Consumer Restitution Fund, nor is this transaction covered by the Restitution Fund.
How Do You Help Prepare Us For This Trip?
You should receive an email from us within 24 hours of purchasing this tour as well as a week before departure. The first email gives details about what to bring, how to prepare yourself, etc. The second email is more like a timetable combined with important contact information.
Is There Anything Out of the Ordinary I Should Bring on This Trip?
Bring a lockable waterproof bag (to bring onto the boat), a waterproof case for your identification card and credit cards (when swimming) and water shoes. On a different note, you may need to bring adapters for your electronic devices.
Is CharlieTheTraveler Licensed & Which State in America Issued it?
The owner of the travel license is the same owner of CharlieTheTraveler. Charlie is a California born and bred resident. The company is headquartered in Greater Los Angeles. The registration number is CST 2136740-70. Please note that travel agents registered as a seller of travel in California does not constitute approval by the State. Also please note that California law requires sellers of travel to have a trust account or bond. CharlieTheTraveler has a trust account.
Are the Tour Guides Licensed & Will They Be With Me the Entire Time?
Our tour guides/drivers are licensed, speak English and know how to bring excitement to your day. What we deliver is the complete opposite of the cookie-cutting tours the big corporations offer, leaving you in complete boredom. Although our tour guides/drivers are attentive, accommodating and engaged, they also know when to give you your private space and free time. It's a perfect balance.
Are We Required to Have Travel Insurance?
Travel insurance is required for all of our customers, for their protection and safety. CharlieTheTraveler does not sell travel insurance. We cannot endorse any specific company. Please check out different companies online and go with the one which offers the most comprehensive coverage.
In Which Language(s) is This Tour Offered?
All of our tours are offered in English. If you prefer another language, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Can We Customize This Tour?
Although we are open to customizing this tour to fit your liking, as a general rule, we discourage the practice. We do our best to keep the cost of the tour low. The more we customize it, the quicker the price goes up. As our tour is currently advertised, you absolutely will not find another one out there as packed with activities and attractions. What’s more, you will not find another tour out there that offers it all "FIRST CLASS," yet for a relatively low price. We have thousands of travelers taking this specific tour every year, and that's because no competitor can beat us on quality, price & substance.
Do We Need to Get Our Own Transportation to and From the Airport?
Absolutely not. We make the arrangements for you.
Can We Book Instantly?
We do not offer the option for you to book instantly because we first need you to tell us via email or phone call the answers to these questions below. Once we have this information, we can send you the link so you can book immediately.
1. Would you be sharing the room with others in your group (e.g. a spouse, relative or friend) or do you want the room exclusive to you?
2. Do you prefer a budget-sensitive 3-star hotel, a better quality but pricier 4-star hotel or a luxurious 5-star hotel?
3. How many persons in your party-including yourself-would be joining this tour?
4. Do you know on which date you would like to start the tour?
Is Someone Available for Us 24-7 While on This Tour?
Yes! You have your own concierge for this tour who is at your disposal. You could reach this person when you need anything.
